Quick post after getting the Kryptotal Fr and Re 2.4’s mounted up. I went with dh casing, soft rear and super soft front. Compounds feel good, I’d describe the rubber as dense(?), it’s definitely soft and tacky but doesn’t have the really pliable feel of maxxgrip. Casing is thicker than maxxis DD at about the same weight, tires measures up right at the claimed ~1300g. I’m coming off an Assegai exo+ maxxgrip with tannus tubeless, and a dhr2 maxxgrip DD with cushcore. Kept cushcore out back but ditched the tannus up front to keep rolling weight more or less the same. Beads were tight on install but not awful.

The tread knobs on these tires are massive, both in overall size and height. Profile seems good, maybe a touch square up front on 30mm ID rim. Reading the above comments about this tire being like a beefed up dissector didn’t really make sense to me since the tread pattern looks so “assegai-like“. But when the tire is spinning you can see the channel created between the center and side knobs and I see where this is coming from. It’s almost like a blend of assegai and dissector, because the channel on the dissector is quite large. I will get out to ride these tires this week and report back! View attachment 1990339

That tread pattern looks very similar to a Dissector. I'm curious how it rides.
I dislike the DHR2 for the same lateral instability issues.
I was very happy with my rides on it yesterday. I went to snow summit in big bear. Did various trails and it performed great. No issues in the powder it had enough grip for me to be comfortable on every trail I rode. It rolls pretty dang good on flat ground. When I ride my normal trails I can report back on that better.

For now I was totally impressed. I really like the edge to edge tread.

Can anyone compare the XYNOTAL trail/endurance directly to a Dissector exo dual compound? Specifically interested in rolling resistance, cornering, and how the tighter tread pattern does in blown out conditions.

So far blown out is no problem at all. It rolls on par with the new aggressor I took off, I’ll be riding my local trails tomorrow that have flat desert turns and lots of rocks to give more details other than bike park setting.

Which desert?

Got weights for them? 29 or 27.5?

Missed your reply last week sorry.

Kryptotal Front 27.5x2.4 ultra soft DH casing 1241 grams
Kryptotal Rear 27.5x2.4 soft DH casing 1198 grams

Kryptotal Front 29x2.4 enduro casing soft 1213 grams
Xynotal 29x2.4 enduro casing soft 1165 grams

I've ridden both my Commencal Meta park bike and my Stumpjumper Evo downcountry bike on the local XC trails and both casings roll much faster than anyone would ever guess. I was surprised.

Does this mean the Kryptotal F rides more like the Dissector as well?

Meaning, it rolls pretty well? Or, does it give up a lot in the grip department to the Assegai?
I have a Dissector as a front tire and honestly I think Dissector is a terrible front tire. Maybe I just suck at MTB, I don't know. Kryptotal Front has as much or more traction than an Assegai or Magic Mary but it rolls faster than Assegai. Maybe the same rolling as MM. Kryptotal Rear looks almost exactly like a Butcher.

Gonna wait on these new versions for people to get some time on them. I have a previous gen der kaiser and it has pinhole leaks all over the sidewall and tread after about 300-350 miles. Hopefully the new ones last longer than that

Der Kaiser Protection Apex was one of the best tires I ever ran. I think the Kryptotal Front and Xynotal in rear combo is better. More traction and roll faster, but honestly Der Kaiser was kind of a slow tire.

KRF has the center knobs similar to a Dissector with the knob spacing of a Magic Mary and the side knobs of Der Baron. KRR looks like a Butcher with the side knobs of a Der Baron. Xynotal looks like a KRF with the center ramps and side knobs similar to Der Kaiser.

I also loved the Kaiser for its behavior, but not its rolling resistance! The Xynotal really looks like a Krypto Front with extremely ramped knobs.
I run Krypto Front and Rear (in Enduro Soft and Trail Endurance) on my Jeffsy 27 and I'm sold. I tried many tires but these tick all but the weight-boxes. And since they roll really well it doesn't really matter for me.

Yea the der Kaiser has been great besides the sidewalls and tread leaking. One thing I really like about them is the side knobs don’t get undercut. Almost at 400 miles now and they’re not undercut at all. I like specialized butcher as an aggressive rear but the side knobs undercut pretty easily

I did not have sidewall seepage on Der Kaiser / Der Baron until almost 1300-1400 miles but the tires still kept air fine, just wet spots would appear in the dust. I kept riding Der Kaiser until I replaced it with the Kryptotal Front on my bike park bike, I had almost 1800 miles on Der Kaiser at the end, but honestly I should have replaced it like 400-500 miles prior. It lost all its edges and a lot of braking ability but it still worked fine in the dry. My side knobs never undercut either, actually one guy on the internet looked at my tires and told me I needed to learn how to lean my bike in the turns, and I was just like, OK. Don't know what to say. :)

That’s some good life! Mine is on the rear and I’m pretty heavy so 400-500 miles is the usual lifespan of my tires

How does the Kyrptotal FR Super Soft compare to a Magic Mary in Ultra Soft? For me the Assegai is slightly better in hardpack vs the MM and the Magic Mary is definetly better when it gets loose and chewed up vs the Assegai. I actually prefer the Magic Mary for California riding as the extra performance in moondust is more important than slightly more grip on hardpack berms

Didnt try the Kryptotal Fr SuperSoft with DH casing (yet..), but finally i had a chance to see this tire (as well as the others), and also was talking with the main person in charge of development of these tires, and now its the first time im curious to try new set instead of my favorite MM SG UltraSoft/Soft combo.
Im guessing my next set will be two Kryptotal Fr SuperSoft with DH casing, unless the Soft version will come before (for the rear)…

From looking at the tire, the pattern and after talking with the guy, i think for your conditions it will be great replacement instead of MM.

As long as it feels more like a MM vs an Assegai. I dont get along with the Assegai when it gets deeper and rutted.
