the krypy rear 2.6 is a great front tire in dry to mixed conditions
I did not like the Kryp rr 2.6 soft in the front at all, I do like the Kryp fr 2.4 soft quite a bit.

The Kryp rr did not have the bite I was looking for in high speed turns, washed out for no reason in comparison to just about any other decent front tire on the same turn.

I got a new Krypto from my LBS, weirdly all my others have had yellow words... these ones are very very orange.
check the 2 sets of dots on the tires.

yellow should be super soft which will be the second cluster of dots all filled. other compounds should have orange and will have 1 or 2 dots filled, 2 for soft.

it has the full quota of dots for SS.
yes. I misspoke before, the tread compound is the second / middle logo but if you're reading left to right it's the first set of dots. 👍

this is an enduro super soft.

I actually don't know what the logos look like on the new xc series and doubt I'll have any reason to run any of them.

Orange is made in china, yellow made in germany?
that could be right. I have an old trail endurance Kryptotal here and it does say made in China right after the pressure specs.

oddly, the yellow ones don't say made in Germany, or anything at all. no "made in" marking on it that I could find.

Why is this so important exactly?
Do they ride differently?
a long time ago it was observed by roadies that conti tires handmade in germany were better than the rest. it used to be that any tire that had black chili tread compound was made in germany, and black chili definitely was better in rain and also wore better. so that idea of the german tires being better probably still pervades, even if it's not true.

I was a roadie once, and to me the GP4000 wasn't better than a Gatorback because of where it was made, it was clearly a more sophisticated tire with a higher price.

I don't really care where my current-gen conti mtb tires are made, so far all of them have performed well for me. I was just looking at tires and commenting on the line of discussion.

this is a kryptotal fr enduro super soft. it is working great for me but I noticed it was imperfectly made. you can see the two halves don't line up correctly.

do you have a tire like this, super soft or otherwise?
