I have a CC link on the way along with the C2 piston upgrade kit and a set of shims. Thinking I’ll go with the lightest tune for rebound and compression and see where I land (160lbs) hoping that pairs nicley with the linear XL can. I will report back when I get a chance to ride…. Smoked my collarbone last Wednesday 🤦‍♂️

Heal up! I smoked my shoulder a week ago. Being broken sucks.

The XL can didn't work out for me. It's not just an increased volume can, but appears similar to the MRP ramp control cartridge in that the outer chamber is connected to inner via ports which restrict air flow at higher pressure effectively adding HSC on larger hits. During low speed compression the flow to outer chamber is less restricted and the feel is mushy.

With some tuning it might be usable (for me) on a purely DH oriented bike.

Do you think that doing the piston upgrade and moving to a lighter compression tune would benefit you in being to use the XL air can? If your complaint is HSC

I don't know.

The spikey feel of the air can caused previously absent high speed harshness. So it was a backwards step for my setup in that regard. I had no issues with the standard can and CC link.

More annoying was the increase in pedal bob and unnecessary use of travel on small bumps and trail oscillation. There were rare instances where the XL can performed better ime.

My XL can will be for sale if anyone wants to give it a shot.

Anyone riding a coil? Anyone have the new Push coil? What did coil do for you?
I have been running a coil since I built it up. It definitely makes the bike plow more and pop less. Depending on your weight, it will also make the bike noticeably heavier. I just put the cascade link on, so with a coil and that it should be as heavy duty as it can go.
Im running a super deluxe ultimate.

XL air can update.

Decided to gamble on enlarging the inner>outer air transfer ports on the XL can positive spring, which I am not suggesting anyone else attempt btw. I carefully used a hand drill to mildly bore the three ports. That, in combination with adding volume reducers to the negative spring and increasing LSC to full, has resulted in an overall improvement in performance vs the stock SDU air can with v2 CC link. Pedaling stability has returned, mid stroke is plush but not wallowy, and end stroke progression is reduced making full shock travel is attainable.

In hindsight I should have tested the SDU XL can with just the added negative chamber reducers to see how much that improved the spiking by itself.

Just upped my lyrik to 160 as well as moved to a new 3.1 damper , I feel the bike is more balanced, the front definitely keeps up with the rear much better now, I’m not sure if that’s just from the upgrade from the select damper to to ultimate or the extra travel , but it’s even more capable…loving the higher front end as well and the extra half degree of slackness…..
Installing the cascade link as we speak ….excited!!!

I posted this on Facebook also.

Druid v2 - 29er vs MX?

What do you ride? Why? Ridden both? Pros and cons? Climb, descend, tech differences?

I would think the differences could be less because the rear suspension is so different than other bikes.

I have the mullet bits for the v2 sitting on the shelf. Not sure when I'm gonna put it on. I converted two of my other bikes from 29 to mullet. TBH it didn't really make that much of a difference to me. It was most noticeable on my eeb. It definitely changed the balance of the handling to more rear biased, and also it feels like it changes directions a little better. I think I'll prefer to keep the Druid full 29 for carrying speed/roll over. I would be more inclined if it shortened the rear a bit and didn't drop the BB. Just by the numbers I think if I was going to mullet I would also slap on a 160mm fork at the same time. I do have a 160mm air spring for my 36 laying around as well. I guess I don't really need it to be any more more descent biased overall which is why I'm hesitant.
