Friend of mine was producing all of his race videos for a while. Just POV racing, I think most people who watch are people who are stuck on trainers over winter. He wasn't trying to make money, though for a short time he tried to use Patreon or whatever just to try and cover his costs. But I think he got burned out and just posts a video here and there now for fun with minimal editing work.

Mtn bike videos can be bad. I think it depends on what channel it is really. Even if its some I follow they can be boring or stupid. But I really like Bern peak, skills with Phil, gcn, gmbn, park tool, pink bike, red bull bike, syd and Macky, single track sampler.

I couldn't watch his channel for more than a couple videos and haven't watched any since. His commentary was too much for me.
He's the worst, stopped watching after he criticized his entire audience for not joining his Patreon. Completely self-absorbed, not realizing we watching 50 other channels and would be broke if we donated to all of them. Even before that though I didn't really like him. Seems passive aggressive and fake ... I like Seth a lot, he's kinda in a different league though. Nobody in the genre is nearly as creative and original.

Bit of a necro here, but hell, I'll play.

I watched GMBN for a while, but they're very repetitious and don't generally go into a lot of detail. "To clear jumps, you have to jump farther." Gee, thanks, guys.

I like Berm Peak, Van Girl Yuka, BCPov, and Kyle and April (until things went to sh*t for them :( ). Metallier and Metz are just impossible to identify with, at my level. Most of the rest are just more of the same.

Pinkbike has some decent videos, especially the stuff with Ben Carthos. Plus, every once in a while they focus on women riders, which isn't seen as often on yotube. Like they gave a shoutout to Alexandera Houchin & her legendary single speed wins in the AZR, CTR & GDMR, which other than more print/word focus publications like bikepacking & radavist only do.

Things must changed since this thread was started. YouTube riding videos, especially those with well established channels, are excellent. Great clarity, great editing, and entertaining to listen to.

Yup, very sad to see the fallout they've had to endure the last few years.

I used to love Joy of Bike with Alex and Lee, but it's a shadow of its formal self.

For tips/instruction I usually check out Super Rider or Mountain Bike Academy. For content it's usually Remy, Jeff Kendall-Weed, BP, and the Loam Ranger.

100% agree. Whenever we road trip we check out the trail reviews on YouTube. Great way to see where we want to ride.

Are you talking about Steady Spin? If not, Hes a tool!

This is more of a show rather than a channel, but if you guys are looking for something bike-related to watch, the RedBull TV Race Tapes series is really well done.

Anyone ever watch Bikefarmer? He considers a "tune up" a simple wipe down of the bike, minor wheel true, and he never changes cables or housings. Just drops TriFlow on everything in large amounts and calls it a day.

Bikefarmer is great - I like any bike channels from a good critical thinker. At risk of sounding like an elitist, I think most of his customers are cost-conscious casual cyclists for whom spending money on new cables/housings would not be worth it if it already works. I think for his market niche, that is a very logical approach to tune-ups.
