Good riding with singletrack, davec113, and eric the red, for the 1.5 runs I managed......

I'll stick with the hard techy stuff, but maybe be a bit more leary of drops for a while. Off the bike for a few weeks with this one. And easy stuff whenback to it. Felt like I landed ok, but somehow ended going down and off the bike in some rocks after the landing. Not sure what happened or what went wrong.

Bad displacement, with nasty avulsion. 8 stitches. No apparant tendon damage, no fracture.
Armour rocks! Everyplace I was covered is, of course, uninjured.

Hmmm, since I'm off the bike anyhow, maybe now is the time to get that vasectomy Ms. scrub and I have been talking about......

And I feel like a total wuss, since this is nothing compared to what Francois is goiung through!

foreshadowing?

so it would seem ms. scrub has good intuition:

My work schedule and an out of town wedding to go to dictate that to be the first day I'll be able to get up there for a lift hit. I've promised Ms. Scrub that I won't ride lift terrain solo; got to find someone to ride with. Anyone able to join on a weekday? I'm no super hucker, or super fast DH guy, but can hold my own getting down the mountain.
oops, i forgot to edit out the part about your holding your own down the mountain.;)

(just messin' w/ ya... glad you're healing up and look forward to riding w/ you again soon)

The gash is deeper than tendon....it came from the inside out!

Your finger will be swollen about a year. Work hard for the next 3 months and you might get back full motion. Regaining full extension will be the hardest part.
nah, the gash isn't really a gash. it's where the skin split open on the underside, while the finger was hyperextended backwards. skin only stretches so much........

i've got pretty good motion already; the main thing preventing more at this point is that i've still got a ton of swelling around the second and third joints. slowly going down though. gets less painful and easier to move every day.

My condolences. I've been off the bike for a few weeks now, nursing a cracked rib. I feel your pain. I actually went for a ride the other day and mentally I am a disaster. I hope the injury won't set your mind back like it did mine.

I have an x-ray very similar to that from Keystone (1999), the top rock section under the gondula that was new for the Keystone race.

Hmmm, since I'm off the bike anyhow, maybe now is the time to get that vasectomy Ms. scrub and I have been talking about......
the 8 stitches in my sac after a NCS race at Big Bear just about gave me one, talk about elephantitus

Maybe I'll be able to keep up by the time youre healed..;) You guys are hardcore, really skilled riders! That was my first dh experience... I'm hooked, it was a lot of fun trying to keep up with you guys. I hope you get on the bike again real soon :D

I read about your Keystone contusion on the local board and had no idea about the carnage.
Normally, your post ride pics and write ups are awesome, and if I see your name as the OP I know its going to be worth a look. This time was no different, great post as always Scrublover. ;) I'm not trying to downplay the injury, and you have my sincerest sympathies. Your passion is strong, perhaps this 'side-trail' you are on will be just as rewarding. Make the best of it

Damn! That X-ray looks scary!

Heal up and rock on! How long are you out for?
i can likely start doing some mellow road rides in a week, but dirt is going to be several. probably three minimal. and even when i do, i'll have to take it easy for the rest of the season.

i'm getting better at working the laptop one handed at least, and have a big stack of books i've been meaning to read. off work for a week or two, at least as well.
