Inspired by the threads I've seen on converting the Specialized Riprock 24 to 26 inch wheels, I forged ahead and converted our daughter's Roscoe 24. The Roscoe frame is a very well made frame with simple internal routing, good weight, and great looks. It does, however, have Boost141 rear hub spacing that required a custom rear wheelset instead of using the more common, old-standard, 135 mm rear hub that the Riprock uses. Chris at Bicycle Wheel Warehouse did an excellent job building up the wheels! Very happy with his service and the wheels themselves.
Weight as shown, except with pedals and cage removed, was 22.5 lbs. Pretty great for a kids bike. Stock weight per Trek is 25.75 lbs.
Changes:
Fork - Fox TALAS 26" air fork, straight steerer
Brakes - Tektro Gemini Hydraulic
Wheels - Stan's Arch EX 26 Custom Build
Front Hub - 6 Bolt disc, Speed Tuned Super 6 2.0 9mm QR
Rear Hub - 6 Bolt disc, Speed Tuned Super 6 2.0 BOOST QR141
Freehub - Shimano MTB 8/9/10/11
Spokes - Sapim Dlight Black 2.0/1.65mm
Nipple Color - Brass
Tires - Schwalbe Rocket Ron 26x2.1 set up tubeless
Pedals - Crank Brothers Stamp 1
Grips - Race Face Half Nelson, Lock on
Bar - Ritchey Carbon Rizer
That's all I've done for now. If you guys have any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them. This has been a ton of fun, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Great forum!
Let me know if you have any questions.
