How does it ride?

"I've cleaned more techy climbing sections, felt more confident on blind trails, and had more fun riding the Sentinel than many previous bikes. The Sentinel's climbing characteristics may require a bit of readjustment if you're not accustomed to Transition's geometry, but once you find the sweet spot, this bike will most certainly leave you satiated as you clean more technical bits than you have on any other bike."

Cascade Components just announced a link for the V2 sentinel. It bumps rear travel up to 165mm, increases progression to 30%, and maintains current geometry. It’s got me thinking—throw an Angleset on in a +1° configuration, along with a 180mm travel fork to end up at essentially the same head angle as stock, plus the CC link and you’ve got a 180/165 smash all the things machine.
So tempting...

I saw the Cascade link for new V2 Sentinel a few weeks ago. If I end up getting the Sentinel, it may be a cool upgrade - just because it's purple!

I have one on mine, only one ride on it so for but it seemed to work well, I had zero volume reducers in the positive or negative, still need to experiment, maybe one or two in the positive and a little lower pressure but overall I think this frame suits the Megneg well.

76kg without gear so probably just under 80kg when ready to ride. I went from 165psi to 185psi with the Megneg. Initial travel feels nice and supple with good support once you get onto the travel. Just what you would expect really. I think I may try a band or two in the positive and lower the pressure a little as the spring rate may be making the suspension a little harsher than ideal in the mid stroke right now.
I am also running a Secus on the fork and tried that without any volume spacers, I felt like the fork was quite harsh and running one volume spacer with a lower pressure really improved the feeling of that fork (vorsprung do recommend one token when using the Secus on a lyrik at 160mm and I agree)

It really doesn't feel like a mini dh bike, I'd try it first before steepening. Having said that 64.6 isn't steep even by modern standards so I'm sure it would work just fine, especially if you don't have so much in the way of steep trails in your local riding area.

Reality is the bike is SLACK. i don't know of a trail/enduro bike that's slacker? I demo'd a revel ranger with a 67.5 HA and after riding that for the weekend and going back to the sentinel it felt like a FREAKING BOAT! but after 30 mins of riding all was well again and its still a great bike!

Finally after almost 8 months, I have the frame in my hands...looks sick to be fair and the grey colour is nicer than the photos, so I'm guessing the same happens with the loam gold.
I know this will make me sound a bit stupid but what did you guys do with the foam tube insert that came with the frame?

Is it supposed to go through the cable port on the downtube, chainstay (looks a bit tight) or simply to wrap the brake hose, to dampen noise? Thanks

Thanks bud...I got there in the end...lol
This is another strange thing about the enduro-mtb review...they claim rattles...how with tubes in tubes and this foam on the dropper one?
All other reviews says exactly the opposite, on how silent this bike/frame is?

How is everyone liking the flow s1 wheelset? I have an NX build and keep breaking spokes so wondering if a takeoff set of the s1s would be a worthy upgrade, or just tho custom build

I had a very similar wheelset on my last bike (Hightower LT), same rims and spokes but laced to Hope Pro 4 hubs. Thought they were great for the price and never had any issues with them. Sure never snapped a spoke... I bent a few, after bending them back the wheels spun good as new

When I called Transition in early Jan, they said they were not taking pre-orders on Sentinel frames. The guy recommended I check with dealers to see what they had on order and see if there were any cancellations. I called a few dealers and found some built bikes (mostly NX builds), but no frames available. But, I kept checking the Transition website and a few weeks ago it showed 4+ month availability for a large ti grey Sentinel, so I placed a pre-order. Recently, the site showed 4+ month availability for small loam gold frame. So, it's worth checking their website for availability periodically.

Put a 65mm superdeluxe and checked clearance on a XL frame. Seatstay clearance looks similar and park lot test was good. Haven't tried it on the trail because of exams :(
Btw, here is my bike

Have anyone more experience with the super deluxe coil 205X65 with on an xl frame? I finally got my bike in the mail yesterday but the super deluxe select plus had some issues. Have the coil shock on my old v1, and if I remove the spacer in it I guess it will be a 205X65?

Another sizing question..

I'm just over 6' and am looking for a good balanced all rounder. I'm currently on an XL HD4 which has basically the same reach as the L sentinel, but slacker STA (so less upright). Would I be better off on a L or XL Sentinel? I prefer more agile/playful vs straight plow machine. Something that is a good daily driver that I can race occasionally instead of the other way around.

Thanks for the input in advance!

If you feel comfortable with the reach of the Ibis and don't mind a more upright seated position, stick to the size L Sentinel. The bike feels light and manouverable.
I'm 6'2" on a XL, but I'm coming from a XXL Megatower. I'm regreting not getting the XXL Sentinel because I'm more of a racer than a trail rider, but the biggest size wasn't available. The bike is great btw
