The DHX is excellent on the Sentinel. I prefer the simpler tuning because it’s similar to the Float X. Can’t speak to spring rate, everybody is different. Use a calculator and then buy 2 different springs based upon your results if you can afford it - it’s nice to bracket a bit. I’m a taller guy so it’s pretty easy for me to go up or down by 50 lbs on spring rate.
Or buy a Sprindex spring 65mm / 2.6" stroke - Sales Tax and Air Express Ship Included

Anyone running a OneUp guide without any rubbing? I tried installing one and the side closest to the frame seems to rub and it doesn’t look like I can use any spacers to fix that.

the only time mines is close is when using that rubber bung guide on the pivot that the gear outer goes through - i cant rotate the one up guide enough back to clear the big 52t cog - however removing the rubber bung allows me to rotate it back enough, luckily the outer gear cable is taught enough that it doesnt cause a issue

Anyone here still using the stock Lyrik Ultimate and SDU? I'm curious how different everyone's settings are from Rockshox' suggestions. The fork feels good. The shock feels.. neutral? I feel like I don't have enough mid-stroke or small bump sensitivity, but I also don't feel like I'm just blowing through the travel. I feel like I can squeeze a little more performance out of it with just the compression and rebound adjustments.
what tunning do you have have? LL?mine is oh so nice

It's the stock tune from Transition.

I just scored the new SD coil and it should be in next week. I'm excited to try it out.
I just installed one this morning to replace my blown X2! Could only find it in 60mm and 65mm stroke locally so snagged the 60mm and will lengthen it back up at service time.

First impressions are quite positive. Pedaling felt at least as good as the X2 and the lockout is legit, perfect for road and double-track when linking trails. Descending I didn’t get much chance to fiddle yet but it felt good. Retained more pop than I expected, though I do think I’ll slow rebound down a touch from the RS baseline.

Unfortunately my rear wheel shattered halfway down the first run đź«  not the best few rides for my equipment.

What spring rate did you decide on? The TFTuned calculator suggested 438 for 28% sag. I decided to round up to 450... hoping it's not too stiff. I'd like to upgrade to an EXT or other lightweight spring once I've settled on a spring rate.

I'm 175lb kitted and snagged a 400# spring, I get 403# from TFTuned. The guy I chatted with at the shop assured me 350# would be too light, and 450# likely too firm. FWIW I observe about 20% static sag as opposed to 28% - felt good on trail but if there were a cheap 375# option I'd probably try it.

this interests me - i too am thinking of one - i sold the EXT on my alloy sentiel v2 to fund the difference between upgrading to a carbon one - worth it alone for the weight savings for sure and a nicer ride feel IMO - but id love to have tried the EXT on the carbon version so im back at square one with it as my x2 is continuously problematic and ive had enough of faffing around with it so currently running a spare float x which has been awesome and reliable!

but ive got an itch to try coil on it but want the weight as low as possible or at least have a climb switch that is near lockout, does the RS do so for said fire roads/roads?

i think it will be close to 1kg with a RS spring, compared to the 500~ grams for the float x im currently running

FWIW - im 175lb kitted there abouts - on my ext i ran a EXT 375 spring and had a 400 spare - never used the 400 as the 375 felt great on that, but of course that was specifically tuned for me - id always opt for a slightly firmer spring if it was me as i dont want a wallowy mess on the climbs - i think 400lbs sounds right at 175 for me personally on a non-specific tuned shock

Thanks! That’s a useful reference.

I think I get less pedal bob from this shock than I did on the X2 even without RS lockout engaged, though it’s worth qualifying that the X2 compression damping almost never felt like it was functioning properly. The lockout is quite good and the bike sits noticeably higher when it’s engaged.

Guys,a help,i´m in a process of buying a 42 mm off set fork and i know TR Sentinel comes with a 44mm,is it going to make a big difference?Transition specs 43mm on the site...thanks

The frame spec is 42-44mm and TR sells builds with both Fox (44mm) and RS (42mm). You'll be fine, and I'd wager that within that range it'll be the least noticeable difference between the two forks you're comparing.

This is kind of embarrassing but can anyone provide pointers (technique or bike setup) for tight switchbacks?

This bike is an absolute blast. I'm getting really close to some old PRs that I was worried I'd never improve on. But for the life of me, I cannot get through some switchbacks without putting my foot down. I figured it would I would just need to set up early, but I'm still struggling on a few. Especially when I'm also worried about keeping the front end weighted so I don't wash out.

I knew this was the weak point of the Sentinel before I got it. Do I just need more time on the bike? I'd rather not have to size down for one aspect of riding. The bike really does feel great everywhere else.

Without knowing exactly what you mean by tight switchbacks, or what your cornering technique looks like in general, these two things pop to mind:
1 - practice pre-turns (and supporting line choice)
2 - practice track-stands…a lot. force yourself to work the non-habitual front wheel bias direction, lean the bike way over and back, different slopes, etc…

Fluidride has some great free content on cornering, including pre-turning (e.g.
). I pre-turn way more on the Sentinel than I ever did on my old 650b Troy. Some of that is probably due to honing the skill, but I’m sure to some degree driven by bike length.

Regarding track-stands…IME knowing you can balance on the bike while stopped will build a lot of confidence in new or tricky situations. You can slow down before the corner (or literally stop at the entry) and then inch through. Repeat your problem corner a bunch and play with building speed.

After blowing the old Super Deluxe Air for the third time, I upgraded to the new 2023 model. The improvement in ride feel is noticeable. I'm just running the standard air cannister but considering going for the progressive air can for some added pop.

thats good to know - so it seems the oil/blowing/leak is not just a fox x2 thing then?! i hadnt heard of ANY rs SD doing this, but to hear yours has gone 3 times doesnt sound great ....

have you had any time on a x2 to compare to the new SD ultimate as i really am on the cusp of buying one too - standard tune looks good like as transition would spec it too which is a bonus

I'm really torn on whether to keep the float x as a spare (for when something inevitably blows due to trunnion  ) and get another nice air shock like SD ult air, or go a different way, keep the float x as my air shock (which has performed well and no issues) and then get a SD coil ultimate for a good mix of having best of both worlds?! what you guys think?
