Nx repeater= $8,200
Trek Rail 9.7=$7,550
Giant e2 Reign=$6,100
Marin Alpine Trail e2=$6,300
Pole Voima=$8,500

If I had Repeater money, I would get the Pole.
Good luck getting the pole though. Their customer service is way beneath transition and they can’t get people their voimas. I have a taival and follow their FB page, it’s a hot mess

Still would get the transition even though it’s a little bit pricey

$8,200 for a nx build? Sorry that’s crazy, look at the alloy offerings of the Rocky Mountain altitude . It’s a better motor and the 30 is $2k less. Transition is no better that BIG oil, they are price gouging IMO.

Transition is no better than Exxon? Tell me more.

The NX Repeater is leagues nicer than the $5600 Rocky. Like so much better that the comparison is laughable. For starters:

Carbon vs alloy
Zeb R vs 35 Gold(comically bad)
Float X performance vs Deluxe Select R(also bad)
Magura MT5 vs cheap Shimanos with crap rotors
OneUp dropper vs mediocre Rocky dropper

Not saying the Transition is a better value, but don’t think for a second you’re comparing equally well spec’d bikes.

1) I have broken 3 carbon bikes multiple times. I am tired of waiting for replacement frames/ frame parts because plastic frames do not take impacts as well as alloy.
2) the shimano motor is the least impressive system out there. The Rocky is a much better system, the other systems that are close to Rocky are the Broz and the Bosch.
3) if you want to talk spec, the Rocky Mountain Altatude power play 50 has a fox 36 and slx for$6,300….. whatever….

Spoken For, no longer available.
I bought some Fox 36 decals to match my alloy Sentinel (the gold highlights). I sold that frame so if anyone wants these I will mail them (lower 48 only) if you pay a couple bucks postage. They were made by Slik Graphics in the UK.

Curious if anyone has experience with a cascade link + air shock compared to stock link + coil.

I’ve been on a few different rear setups (stock Superdeluxe, Superdeluxe + megneg, a couple different coil shocks, and now the cascade + float x).

The megneg was better than the stock air can, the coil I like for rougher stuff, but the cascade + air shock feels like the coil but potentially better (haven’t had time to flip back yet).

Does the stock link + coil keep up with the cascade link + air shock? The cascade setup feels way better than the stock setup with megneg

I may try that. I sent my RS SD to Avy for a tune and didn’t love what I got back (too much damping), so perhaps it will feel better on the Cascade?

My currently setup is an Avy Bomber CR, regular link for local trail rides, and cascade for trips to Mountain Creek Bike Park. That shock is fantastic, but would love to lose a little weight (my 450lbs spring alone is like 350g).

I’ll let you know what I think!

Thanks! My coil setup is a stock bomber CR. It’s been awhile since Ive used it (been playing with the megneg). I like it and it does well over the chatter but I think the cascade + air shock is amazing and I don’t ever recall having that same feeling about the coil by itself

Been on the Sentinel for a few months now and can't recommend the bike enough! Came from a 19 nukeproof mega 27.5.
200lb kitted. CaneCreek kitsuma 450lb progressive coil. Sits at about 29-30% sag with 1.5 preload. Also have a 500lb progressive, was 27-28% sag with no preload.

Good to be back on a Transition, after jumping around to a few different bikes during Covid Era of limited bike stock finally landed a new sentinel. I have been riding her since February and am very happy. Most recent ride was sedona's hiline and she handled it with ease. Highlights include:
NOBL tr37/Onyx wheelset
One up bar/stem combo
X01/gx drivetrain

Considering a coil shock but otherwise she's sweet.

II have a super deluxe coil with the vorsprung tractive tune for the cascade link and the float x2. I haven't run the coil with the stock link, because the shock has a compression tune for the linkage.

The coil shock with the cascade link feels great descending, it has the most small bump sensitivity I've felt but at the same time I've never bottomed out harshly. This is mostly a function of getting the compression tune correct and matching it to the spring rate. IDK if that helps, not really what you're asking, but if you want the best descending capabilities I would go tractive tune on a coil shock with the cascade link.

anyone previously own a Ripmo AF or V2? Curious if you switched... local shop has some coming this month... Im highly tempted to make the move, but won't get a chance to demo. Candidly - trails aren't crazy steep but lets call them more janky ish w a fair bit of rocks, some roots etc.. Ripmo is a really good bike, but I feel like the DW just doesn't do as well DH as Up. Thanks in advance!

I bought a V2 carbon Sentinel, came from a Ripmo AF. Swapped all my parts over from the Ripmo too haha. So glad I made the change, Sentinel is much better when pointed downhill. Don’t care as much about uphill performance but I feel that’s more about technique than the bike. Both are good but after this last trip to the bike park, I’ll gladly take the Sentinel. Though now after riding the Sentinel for a while, I’m Spire curious!

bdreynolds!

Yeah - I remember you a bunch in the AF forum. Appreciate your perspective!! Spire curious you say? local guy got one to race in the MTB nationals in Winter Park next week... he's a crazy fit and strong rider and in his early 60s - grabbing top 10 KOMS on it all over the place - including UP!! that's the surprising thing I've noticed. Local shop has another guy on a Spire that has THE number 1 KOMS in the valley inc many of the uphill ... so there must be some kinda voodoo going on w it!

I would guess if I felt I needed 170 - id cascade my Sentinel - but that's just a first pass on the idea... I was originally thinking about going less/downcountry style but why give up extra if you don't get anything in return per say?

Anyone here come from a v2 Switchblade? I just added a trail 429 to the stable and there is a fare amount of overlap with it and my Switchblade. Considering replacing it with the Sentinel as it seems a bit rowdier.

Also interested in hearing from former Ripmo owners. I love everything about it, but can’t quite get on with that regressive bit at the end of the travel and I’d rather not buy an aftermarket link. Now that I’m officially back in a part of the country with elevation, I won’t mind a slacker bike.
