Any more try. Been calling around to no avail. Anyone know a local shop with an XL on the floor?

Your buddies must have been lucky. Go peep in the Trek forum and you'll see the frustration
They should look at summit bikes.

I see a medium in stock. The rest is preorder. No doubt all bike manufacturers are hurting now. It might not be frames only but components are a big deal :)

If anyone is curious how the sentinel V2 feels 1 degree steeper - I just put in a works components angleset to get me to 64.6 deg head angle. cost me $130 for the parts + install at a shop. In summary, it's incredible and suits my style of riding better. Amazing how 1 deg can affect bike handling and feel - it feels like a new bike. I was contemplating selling my sentinel and replacing with an offering or wreckoning, but now I have the perfect bike that slots right in between the two, but covers both trail rides and enduro/DH/bike parks

For my style of riding, everything is better. Steeper affects all of the geometry: reach gets slightly longer, BB slightly higher, wheelbase slightly shorter. Which makes the geometry closer to other bikes like the wreckoning, SB150, megatower, ripmo V2, etc. I feel it gets my weight a little more forward (in a good way), the steering gets snappier, climbing is easier, bike pops and is more maneuverable, my weight feels more balanced and centered so cornering feels even better, definitely more brap-able. Jumping feels better - I feel like I can boost higher and feel more in control in general vs being a passenger on the bike. I haven't had a chance to ride anything too steep yet, I imagine there might be a marginally small loss in confidence/stability there, but also keep in mind at 64.6 we're still pretty slack.

My complaints before were:
  • that the bike only felt good if my trail speeds were high.
  • low/med speed tech felt awkward
  • the bike would not react to sprinting well - felt like I would put in all this energy and the bike barely accelerated (at least on flat trails)
  • the reach felt a little short (i'm 5'10" ridding a medium)
  • the slack geo encouraged more of a "passenger vs pilot" sort of riding style, which was great for carving down at high speeds, but not as flickable as I like a bike to be.
  • low BB - I was always pedal striking on climbs and hitting my bash guard on things

Some of these issues were helped with adjusting my shock LSC, but most of it I felt were geometry related.

1 deg steeper seems to put the bike in a sweet spot for most of my riding.

Next adjustment will be trying out a MegNeg.

For your peddle strikes, look at your crank arms. My gx bike came with 175 mm cranks the were drilled an tapped for 170mm…. One mold for 2 different crank arm size saves money….look at the ends of your crank arms. There should be the same amount of material front , rear and bottom around the peddle mounting hole. If you have a lot of material on the end of the crank arm, then you to have a 175mm crank drilled for 170mm.

Is that the Stylo crank? Thats what came on my GX build.

I figured the pedal and bashguard strikes were due to rear shock setup. I like the feel at 30% sag but it was going through travel, so I put in another spacer (it comes stock with one). I still felt the midstroke support wasn't there unless I put in more PSI, which got me the midstroke platform support, but then made it more harsh in general.

This past weekend I tested out a MegNeg - 2 negative tokens, and took out both positive spacers. Set for 30% sag.

It makes a big difference. Smooths out the chatter, but still gives me midstroke support to pump and pop through things. I did bottom out once, and that was harsh but I think I will keep this setup for a bit before messing with it more. I might add one positive spacer back in if I bottom out more. But for now feels pretty ideal.

Good to know about the megneg. I have one in the garage that I'll put on at next service time, looking forward to trying it out

I have a v1 with truvative cranks…. I ground them down with a grinding wheel…. I also added a 170 mm air shaft in the fork for more ground clearance.

Hi. Anyone install a crank with RF134 spindle on 52mm chainline Sentinel frame? I have a Raceface Turbine crank with RF134 spindle that is meant for 51mm chainline. According to Raceface, 52mm chainline is recommended to use RF 136 spindle. Would the RF134 spindle works anyway without problem?

Just picked up a new GX build over the weekend. Is the paint really as poor as some people make it sound? Is a full wrap pretty necessary, or is covering the high wear areas enough (down/top tube, outside of chain/seat stays)?

Came here asking for a friend who is doing a sentinel build and just got his frame from a local bike shop. Question is he got the frame and it came with no headset. Is this standard for transition? We are trying to find the right one for it to build it before a ride next week.

My Spur frameset didnt come with a headset either, specs are listed on the Transition website to help you order the correct one. The Spur takes a ZS 44/56.
