Hello everyone, I'm going to be spending the 4th of July weekend visiting friends in Murrieta. What are some good trails that we can hit up while we are there. I was looking into Simpson Park, but then realized it is closed right now due to fire season? We are coming from Vegas and Bootleg Canyon is our main trails, so anything technical is fine, but I'm down for anything. Thanks for any recommendations.

Idyllwild is awesome if you don't mind driving.

Closer to town is Vail Lake.

Other than that there are some DH shuttle trails here and there nearby.

My suggestion would be Idyllwild for best overall experience. So many sweet trails and great views, with a bonus being that it is usually a bit cooler up there.

Thanks...

thanks, those look like some awesome trails, i will definitely put that on the list, but it would be nice to have something a little closer as a backup. We will be having some "festivities" over the weekend since they are friends i haven't seen in a while. It would be nice to have a shorter drive in case we aren't (ahem) 100% the morning after... :D

If you are looking for hangover trails... Santa Rosa Plateau is okay for a little spin. Not much out there, but it is a cool place to tool around some.

Slaughterhouse Canyon is a fun add-on, but if you are allergic to Poison Oak like i am then stay away!

thanks for the info, i definitely need to avoid any poison oak or ivy, all i have to do is look at the stuff and im covered in it. So if i went to Simpson Park there are no trail police to bust us if we ride there? ;)

Thanks for the offer, but i think if we ride we'll go on Sunday. Plus our schedule is going to be so crazy, i don't want to make plans and run the risk of being flaky. appreciate it though
