Hi,

I was just wondering does anyone know the advantages/disadvantages of a swing arm (like on the yakuzas) over the 4-bar system (like on konas)

Thanks

Kona is not a true four-bar

In order for the system to be a true four-bar, the pivot located by the rear axle has to be on the chainstay, not the seatstay. Seatstay pivots are known as "faux bars" and operate similarly to a single-pivot, like on the Yazuka. Advocates of the true four-bar claim- surprise!- that it works better than other designs. Thats about as far as I'm willing to wander into the great suspension debate. If you use the search function, you can find lots of debate about what works and what doesn't. Check the Turner forum, it was quite a hot topic over there because Turner is dropping the 4-bar in favor of a single pivot.
