I just converted my 29er to SS. I searched the forum and couldn't find my problem. Well my direct problem anyways.

I have my chainline about perfect and the chain as short as possible without binding. (I put a level flat on the chainring and lined up the rear cog to it.)

My issue is I'm getting chain skip. I believe I know why.

I believe the chain under pressure will rub one side or the other of the guard around the pulley and it basically climbs up and then skips back down to the pulley.

The singulator is not parallel to the chain and there is no adjustment for that angle. My derailleur hanger is removable.

My solution is to twist the hanger or buy one that has some angle to it. I just wanted to check and see if anybody else had a solution that I'm not thinking of and if not then what the best way to twist the derailleur hanger? Or where to buy one?

Never mind. I'm impatient and am learning as I go. I took the derailleur hanger off and slightly bent it. Put it back on and now it lines up perfectly. Took it for a test ride and no skipping.

Now I see why there are so many mixed reviews for the singulator though. I bet most the people that have skipping problems was because of the same issue that I had. You would think derailleur hanger alignment would be on the Surly instruction sheet.
