I've upgraded the Code R levers on several bikes to Code RSC. Well worth it.

 

same thing, just ti bolts and carbon blade, your caliper is the same so you could just buy the levers

 

Can't comment directly on the Ultimate, but the RSC has a bite point adjustment, which is huge because the bite point on the R sucks. Also, there is a definite difference between the R and RSC in terms of feel, confirmed in another thread somewhere by someone who described the internals. But more leverage, essentially.

 

Does the Silver still use a bearing rather than bushing for the lever pivot? I know they started screwing around with that on the G2 brakes.

 

yes silver uses bearings as well

 

Silvers come with DOT 4 in them and Ultimates 5.1. Not sure why they chose to do that, can’t see there being much cost saving? Or performance. Irrelevant really, bled mine after install/hose routing with 5.1 anyway.

So you guys are saying the calipers are the same? So I should just swap out the levers and I should be good?

Check out this review. He doesn’t like Code RSC but likes the Stealth. Maybe there are internal differences in the caliper? Or is it all in the Stealth lever? I would say the lever feel/bite point is better than the XT8100 I had. Has the firm bite point like the Shimano feel but there is modulation.

 

This is the first time i read about differences other than the lever body angle. I can't remember SRAM claimed to have changed anything regarding leverage. The video description sounds like he just got a better bleed.

 

I don’t know this guy does the reviews for the Freehub Magazine channel, so I’m sure he’s ridden more than one pair of RSC.

Maybe SRAM hasn’t changed anything, but the bite point feels more solid than my old XT 8100. The reading/hearing the SRAM sponginess for the last 4 years is confusing. I haven’t ridden RSC to compare.

He also said this to me when I asked

The Code caliper has remained the same 100%. They could have changed the swinglink since the lever housing is new, but there was no claim from SRAM doing so.
Last possibility is they changed the lever piston spring or caliper piston seals but i doubt it. Also the HS2 discs might feel better than the centerlines if thats what he used before.

 

I just picked up a set of code silvers for 119$ each brand new. Couldn’t pass that up. Just gotta order some hs2 rotors and mtx pads and I’ll be ready to roll

 

Do you not like the OEM sintered SRAM pads? I find them fine with the Silvers.
