Spray painting to hide decals on frame

Would it be a good idea to spray paint over a few decals to achieve a cleaner look on my frame? I think there's too many decals of the company on my bike frame and I was thinking about hiding a few of them by spray painting over them. Good idea? The frame is black and the decals are white lettering.

Have you try peeling the decal off, it's quite easy you know. Of course if you have baked the decal in it would flake off but hopefully it' not there yet.

I've peeled a decal of my black frame it gave this phantom look for a few weeks then after I washed the bike it's all gone just a slight color difference, kinda cool.

I'd recommend against the spray paint. At best you'd have a new spray paint look, at worst well you just gotta redo the paint job:)

Just leave it unless you want to open a can of worms
If you paint over the stickers you will see the outline of the sticker when you are finished
If you want to do it the correct way let me know and I will post instructions

It will probably look worse, not better.
You could try some wide black tape, and if you didn't like it, you could remove it.
Or, you can order bike stickers on line, and get some dark gray lettering which would give it a completely different look than the white.
I saw picture on this forum from a guy who used checkered race flag looking tape on part of his frame, and it actually looked good.

not sure if its the same for a bike, but i've removed decals from cars with the use of a hair dryer (heating gun is better) and some dental floss, razor works as well but you risk scratching your paint. Just heat it up, hold the floss tight and scrape off. Use some goo-gone to get off the resudue, just make sure you wash it off after to protect the finish. might work, not sure though.

yea i think it's either leave the bike alone or have it professionally repainted which i'm not going to do, at least before the summer starts. the other thing that is kind of ok is that gaffing tape suggestion, maybe just to cover up a few decals.

I'd personally stay clear of spray paint - getting good results are tricky and requires some serious prep time because you WILL get overspray.

Keep in mind, newer bike manufacturers use special "wet" decals that are built into the paint process so there is no peeling off.

Lastly - bikes that are once'd over with spray paint scream "I'm stolen!!"

Check out Guerrilla Tape - stronger than Gaffers.

Once I saw how hideous these decals looked on my Framed Minnesota, I could not un-see it. Just too many white explosions everywhere:

They're the decals that are under the topcoat, so I spray-painted the fork. It looks fine. Close enough match, but I probably wouldn't do the whole frame.
