Doesn’t seem like there is a thread for the spire.
Anyone got one yet? Carbon framesets are now in stock in UK, how about USA / rest of work.

any real world reviews?

We are in the midst of quite a big winter storm that's dumping a good amount of snow and very cold temps so I won't be able to do any meaningful rides for easily a month if not two unless I travel somewhere so any runs or tuning time is on hold for the moment. I like the idea of Finale though, on my list for trips.

I have a I9 Hydra hub on the rear so pretty much maximum engagement and this could be exacerbating the behavior compared to your DT 350. I have a Nuke Proof Horizon V2 wheel I could put on the bike also to see if that changes things but that hub is pretty high engagement as well. I think a chainless run would be very telling for me.

You guys that are running +1° cups, do you know how much that took off the wheelbase/front center by chance?

Also, there's quite the discrepancy between effective top tube and reach on this thing, even compared to other bikes with a 78° seat angle... do you guys that get along well with the reach find seated climbing cramped at all?

Looking to build up a heavy hitter trail bike and would try to get the head tube at 64° or even a scooch steeper. Concerned with the stated top tube versus reach. Currently on the new stumpy Evo which I like a lot but want something a scooch smaller (reach) and definitely more capable.

It can feel a bit tight when you climb on it. I don't know how a angleset would affect that. With my bike it is probably very noticeable since I run a Medium and I am 5'10. However, you get used to it quickly.
However if you are looking for a heavy trail hitter I would demo a Sentinel. Honestly for most of my riding a Sentinel would be better. It is just for the really gnarly stuff and racing that the Spire wins the crown. Both are excellent fun bikes that do not feel super cushy (and dead) like the Specialized Enduro.

I picked up a Huckleberry GX Spire Carbon XL using Transition’s DTC option. Bike arrived a few days ago and I unpacked it and set it up. I gotta say, Transition’s direct sale program might have a few kinks to work out in their assembly process:

- One of the bolts on the top tube mount was stripped, right out of the box. I haven’t solved this yet. It won’t be removable without chiseling the head.

- The OneUp dropper makes a loud “double clunk” sound when moving from fully dropped to fully extended. After consulting with OneUp I went through the quick grease procedure which made it a little better, but the dropper seems a little flimsy and continues to make weird noises. Anyone else had these issues? I really love OneUp products and I wanted to love their dropper, but so far I am worried it’s going to break.

- The bike seemed pretty noisy for a brand new rig while I was testing it in my driveway. I took it for a ride on some local trails and it began making VERY loud squeaking sounds nearly constantly. My riding buddies were convinced it was a linkage problem - after some investigation, it seems that the trunnion mount bolts were not greased at all by whoever built the bike. After greasing them properly and reinstalling the bike is now basically silent (except for the weird dropper noises).

I am still very stoked about the bike. My guess is that Transition is shipping consumers the same package it sends to dealers (the included reflectors and dork disc were a clue), and dealers would likely work out these Issues before selling the bike.

Waiting for mine to arrive any day.

I have the build already sorted out, except which double crown fork to buy for bike park days.

Boxxer was the first choice, but it won’t fit with 46 offset.

Anyone tried Boxxer with a 50 offset?

If you have any experience with running dc fork on Spire please share.

Thanks
I just got a fox 40, but still waiting on the 48mm offset lower crowns to come in before throwing it on the bike

Whelp, after studying geo charts for entirely to long and reading/watching many reviews I have a gray GX supposedly shipping out today.

I will bring over all my XO1 drivetrain & cranks, Oneup bars, either Nobl TR37's on 240's (haven't ridden them yet) or Nox Farlow's on Hydra's. I will definitely try to finagle more than the 180mm of drop but wish the seat tube was 34.9. Plan to run the Zeb initially but likely will see a Smashpot (on push coil now).

I also plan to dial back the head tube angle but am waffling between 1° or 1.5°. I feel like 1.5° would suit me better and I would actually make use of the low setting if I did 1.5°.

That brings me to the shock. I've ridden many Patrols and Sentinels (live in the PNW) and find them bucky. I think being able to dial in high speed rebound is going to be important for me. Are the newer Fox X2's reliable yet? Really like the Kitsuma on my current bike but the 205x65 is $$.
Any input on shocks? What shock are you riding, how do you like it?

I am riding the 2023 super deluxe air shock, which I can highly recommend. Especially given the cost of the shock. You have low speed compression and high speed compression. And all the clicks do something that you notice. It took me a while to figure out the springrate but now it's really good.
One last note on the super deluxe. If you get one, make sure to order the progressive air canister, since those are on high demand.
I haven't had a chance to try the 2023 super deluxe coil, but I want to buy one eventually! It has high speed compression (like the super deluxe), it is inexpensive (compared to the DHX2) and it even comes with a hydraulic bottom out thingy -- that you otherwise only get in the EXT shock.

The new super deluxe coil is definitely on my radar. I don't think I've read a single bad review...infact most people state it's the best shock they've ever run.

Doesn't their top air shock cone with the HBO as well? I need to figure out their dampening nomenclature. I would definitely want the one with more rebound deeper in the stroke.
That's one of the strange things. There are super deluxe air shocks with HBO but only available through OEM. Maybe you can have it installed by a tuner, but I don't know if you could do it yourself.
BTW: TheLostCo Shop is a great resource for questions like these on Rockshox products. I emailed them and they helped me out with the air canister stuff.

Honestly that almost sounds like a Sentinel in S to me. I would highly recommend that you go demo a Spire in S.
I demoed a Spire and a Sentinel in medium size and they were both similar in how easy you can throw them around. However, I noticed the weight difference quite a bit. The Sentinel feels almost like a light trail bike, which I noticed a lot while pedaling or leaning the bike to the side. The suspension on both feels very similar -- I mean it's the same design.
