Doesn’t seem like there is a thread for the spire.
Anyone got one yet? Carbon framesets are now in stock in UK, how about USA / rest of work.

any real world reviews?

Picked up an XT Carbon last week. Had it on a couple rides, once out with my wife on mainly slow technical trails but two pretty good downhills where I got it up to speed but I was mainly turning dials and testing pressure then a second day of pretty fast and jumpy flow trail shuttling. Pedals as good or better than my V1 Sentinel with a cascade link, weighs the same thing (My Sentinel had a coil shock) not great in the slow twisty stuff but bearable. When speed picks up stability is unbelievable, I haven't owned a DH bike in a few years but the Spire is more stable than I remember my last Turner DHR was. Its going to take some guts to find the cornering limits. Ill take it to Windrock this weekend and see what its like in the rough. It wouldn't be a good "only bike" but paired with my Rootdown its going to cover all my bases well.

Weight as pictured with pedals is 31.2 pounds.

Large XT
Fox 38/X2
Enve M6 Stem
One up carbon bar. 35 mm rise
Trickstuff Direttissima brakes
XTR rotors
XTR Cassette
Sramano AXS
Berk Carbon seat
Berd TR27 wheels laced to DT Swiss 240's
Michelin Wild Enduro's, front and rear.
Deity Tmac pedals
Eewing cranks

I still have to go back and mess with the drivetrain, it was shifting perfectly with the XT cassette, but not so much with the XTR. I suspect I didn't assemble the lower cogs correctly though just eyballing it, gaps look off. Also won't really be able to ride it for a while as I'm down with a shoulder separation. But hopefully in about six weeks.

Dude... that build, awesome choices! Impressive to come in just over 31lbs too in a large.

Mine arrived, ordered late May before they were officially announced. Right now not going to put it together as I just built another long travel 29er. The riding options for this kind of bike are limited over the winter locally but I'm sure I'll find a destination. I appreciate that Transition spec'd this in a way that it really requires no changes or upgrades. Sure I might choose a different handlebar or tires, but would be content riding it just as it is. That's unusual for a complete bike.

I've got an alloy Spire frame on the way also. Surprised they actually had it in stock, and the price was right.

Converting from an Enduro as well, seems to be a common theme these days. (y)
Taking the 5mm spacer off the EXT so it'll get the full 170mm on the Spire. Zeb on the front at 170 or 180, whichever one works best. I had the HA on the Enduro sitting right around 62.5 degrees with the 42mm offset fork and it was surprising good, even for trail use. So probably heading for the slacker route on the Spire as well.

That'll make 3 Transitions in the garage in 3 materials;
Steel TrailorPark, carbon Spur, and aluminum Spire.

@davec113 , your Spire show up yet?

Mine is supposed to be here tomorrow. I am very interested to see if the EXT fits, supposedly it has very similar reservoir dimensions as the Float X2 so I'm hoping it works. There are a few PB guys running Storias on medium frames, just don't know if there is a difference between carbon and aluminum frames.

Lots of snow on the ground here means lots of time to get it together. (y)

Go it! Large Al frame with X2 comes in at 4790g w/ shock, rd hanger, seatpost clamp and axle. Pretty heavy, likely a little more than my carbon Enduro. I was expecting it to be near the same...

Carbon Spire would be around 3050g w/X2 according to Fanatik, taking their weight and adding 500g for the X2 shock, but I'm having a hard time believing there's a 1740g or 3.84 lb difference between the Carbon and Al versions. 3050g seems crazy light, that's only 1.3 lb more vs my Spur w/SIDLuxe so Fanatik's weights may not be correct.

Does anyone have a frame weight for carbon Spire?

The orange beast has landed!

Very stoked to find out that the EXT clears by a country mile. Now I have to cut the 5mm spacer out to get the full 170mm of travel.

The shock hardware was scary tight, good thing it is steel or it would have snapped/stripped trying to get it loose.

I'm going to try the stock Fox shock out as well, if you look up the build info it looks like they have an actual custom tune for it. The compression and rebound codes are TC1 and TR1, which I can only assume is Transition Compression 1 and Transition Rebound 1.

Not like the Specialized RX stuff which is just an off the shelf configuration most of the time.

Doing a bit more research the X2 weighs 656g so the L Al Spire is 4144g, Carbon is 2543g. That's a 1601g difference, and (4144-2543)/2543 x 100 = 63%. The Al Spire weighs 63% more than the carbon version, 3.53 lbs!

I wish Transition would have published weights and saved both myself and themselves the hassle. I'm asking to exchange it for a carbon frame whenever they come in.

Considering my main goal is to have a more versatile bike vs the Enduro, a bike that sucks a bit less on mellower trails and maybe climbs with a bit more vigor, this isn't going to work out. 😢

Have you weighed a large carbon frame? The sentinel frames only have a 2lb difference between alloy and carbon

I have about 5 rides in my Spire Carbon XT now, I'm really surprised by how spry it is even compared to my Ripmo V1. I lost the urge to ride the Ripmo and now want a bike that is further away from the Spire, like a more XC oriented bike (Ripley, Spur, Izzo, etc). I'm so impressed by this bike. Only thing I want to try is my Carbon 942 i9 wheels on the bike and maybe put an extra set of Code RSCs on.

All done and ready to rip. Weight came out quite reasonable.

Medium alloy Spire frame
EXT Storia w/ Cascade Link (180mm)
ZEB with Push HC97 and Vorsprung Luftkappe (180mm)
WeAreOne Union rims/I9 1-1 hubs
Saint Brakes, SRAM XO 11 speed w/ Shimano 11-42 cassette
Praxis Girder 165mm carbon cranks w/ OneUp 30t Switch ring
OneUp 180mm dropper and 35mm rise bar, 40mm RaceFace Turbine R stem

36.4 lbs with Tallus inserts

Nice. I've just received the medium xt alloy in orange. I'm still waiting a cascade link, push 11-6, ride wrap and smashpot. I'm going to reach adjust to my preference of 165 with a Works headset. According to the specs, I can run a one up post with 190 drop, so I got one of those coming too along with pedals and EDC light.

This will be just for Northstar, Trestle, and Whistler, along with shuttles.

I may try a double crown in the future.

You'll be stoked. It's a beast of a bike, but just rolling around it really does feel/act like something smaller. Does not feel like the 180mm alloy frame monster that it is.

I think it'll be pretty mean on the trails as well.

I swapped a smashpot for luftkappe and dropped 1 1/2 lbs from the ZEB. The spring and all that oil adds up!

I just bought an XXL carbon based on DH28’s rec. Anyone know what the min chainring size is? They list the max as 34t on the website. I’m hoping i can fit a 28t XTR on there. Anyone know?

Planning this build spec. (feedback welcome!)

Considering this as my next bike. Coming from a Hightower in XL wich has about 486 at 160 mm Travel fork.
Struggling with the sizing for the Spire no chance to sit on one close to home...
Exactly between sizes L and XL at 188cm. TBH i always thought i dont want anything longer than my Hightower. Reach would be pretty much the same, Stack -11 mm. WB much longer.
XL would be 66mm longer which seems insane :)

You have to kind of ignore the wheelbase and focus on the reach. I can't imagine riding a L at your height. I have the new Patrol in a large and it actually feels a tad small to me (180cm height). I even put a 50mm stem on it!The thing with your hightower is it probably had a fairly long top tube and slacker seat tube which feels good while seated at your height. But the Spire you hopefully will be spending more time descending/standing and you'll appreciate having that extra length for reach. The wheelbase numbers throw me off too but in my experience usually don't ride like they read on paper. IMHO
