Don't crack too many beers before trying to run the housing. ;)
Not the worst, but for sure not a carbon tube-in-tube affair.

I was blessing the external brake routing.
The routing on this frame is pretty easy. Shifter starts from the rear, dropper starts from the front. There's a massive hole you can get an Allen key into in the downtube. I think routing both took me <10 minutes? Normally I despise these things.

Considering this as my next bike. Coming from a Hightower in XL wich has about 486 at 160 mm Travel fork.
Struggling with the sizing for the Spire no chance to sit on one close to home...
Exactly between sizes L and XL at 188cm. TBH i always thought i dont want anything longer than my Hightower. Reach would be pretty much the same, Stack -11 mm. WB much longer.
XL would be 66mm longer which seems insane :)

6' to 6'1 somewhere on an XL. This thing is a monster.

No idea what it weighs. I've named it Harambe if that tells you anything.

Finally finished the build today, went for short ride and wow very dirt bike like.
I'm in between XL and XXL but I wanted that 535 reach, I made the right decision.
Nothing fancy on the build other than the gold XX1 chain that I cringed at paying for, I think it was the last SRAM

12speed chain on the planet. I don't think weight is a top concern for a bike like this but a light bike always feels good to ride. At least light for a 170 travel XXL

Very nice. Out of curiosity how tall are you and what length stem are you running? I'm at the top end of Transition's XL size range but after riding an XXL Sentinel and finding it way too big I'm going back to XL for the Spire. The longer chainstays are a big draw when you're getting into the >500mm reach territory.

I tend to ignore the size chart and use the reach number and effective TT. My last bike had a 495 reach, a 50mm stem and a 78 degree seat tube. Cockpit felt a little short but it climbed/ pedaled well but felt too short on steepish rough descending. The XL Spire with the 510 reach and 40mm stem was only 5mm longer and that wasn't going to be enough. This lead me to the XXL with 535 reach, it looked like the right choice and the only size available. I have a 30mm and 40mm stems to tryout with my Renthal 38mm riser bars. FWIW I like the big dirt bike go fast feel and this bike looks like it will fill that need.

What’re the build specs? My xxl carbon sentinel weighs in about 36 with pedals/tube/pump

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

RF aluminum ARC 30 rims 32 spokes 240 hubs
Renthal 780 aluminum bars
Code RSC brakes 220f 200r
Lyrik ultimate 170
I9 stem 31.8
Transfer post 175mm
XO1 shifter/derailleur, E13 cassette
Assegai 2.5 3C EXO+ front, Dissector 2.6 3C EXO rear
Next R crank 30T Wolf tooth chainring
Plastic One up pedals
XXL frame w/X2
Nothing else mounted to the frame
All used parts from my La Sal Peak except new chain
The Lyrik is a weight saver 200gm? less than a ZEB. Not sure if I want a ZEB or a Fox 38
Pump and tube is probably the weight difference

So I cut the 5mm spacer off my 205X60 EXT shock to make the stroke 65mm for this bike.

I did not think about the HBO feature, luckily EXT USA reached out. Although the shock is now 65mm stroke, the HBO unit is still functioning as a 60mm shock. Bad things would happen if it hit bottom hard. Luckily I'm still snowed in so it has only been ridden around the yard.

So don't just do what I did to your EXT, send it in to change the effective HBO stroke as well!

Have an XL raw alloy frame on the way now. That was sure a quick sell after doing a fast and twisty DH run on one...
I just bought an XXL carbon based on DH28’s rec. Anyone know what the min chainring size is? They list the max as 34t on the website. I’m hoping i can fit a 28t XTR on there. Anyone know?

Planning this build spec. (feedback welcome!)

No minimum chain ring size, don't know how much AS will be effected with that tiny baby ring you want to put on though. It pedals well because AS stays above 100% with a 32t.

I suggest 165mm cranks for sure.

If you are going coil shock, look at a cascade link. Makes it a bit more coil friendly, and gives you the option of 180mm with stock 65mm stroke, or 170mm with 60mm stroke shock.

That thing will be light with XTR and a Lyric! Might break the 31# barrier..

After some discussion I think I’ll go with the 170 zeb. I realized I like the zeb on my decoy more than the lyric on my SJ.

Will push recommend using the 11-6 with the cascade link? I talked to them about that with my SJ-evo and they said to stick with the stock link. Guess I can just try the link. They’re pretty cheap.

Yeah unless there is a Really good frame specific reason to go with the 30/32t I prefer to go with a 28. Bay area fire roads are brutally Steep sometimes. And I’ve never seen anyone spinning out on a mountain bike with a 30t chain ring on a single track.

I'd ask PUSH about the link for sure. Curious to see what they say.
I know they tailor the shocks for each frame.

The frame is for sure more suited to the stiffness of a ZEB. Worth the 200 grams for me.

Between sizes L and XL at 188cm.
You have to kind of ignore the wheelbase and focus on the reach. I can't imagine riding a L at your height. I have the new Patrol in a large and it actually feels a tad small to me (180cm height). I even put a 50mm stem on it!The thing with your hightower is it probably had a fairly long top tube and slacker seat tube which feels good while seated at your height. But the Spire you hopefully will be spending more time descending/standing and you'll appreciate having that extra length for reach. The wheelbase numbers throw me off too but in my experience usually don't ride like they read on paper. IMHO

^exactly^ I was measuring my Patrol (which is in the high setting, longest reach) vs my Nukeproof Reactor. I have my seat very far back on my patrol and a 50mm stem and on my Reactor I have my seat forward and a 35mm stem and my patrol seat to bar measure still is 1cm less. Perhaps the thing I was most surprised about was that even though the front center on my Patrol is significantly longer...it doesn't feel that way when standing. I don't think I'd buy an XL spire.... but if I was going to buy my Patrol again (or a Sentinel) I'd consider sizing up.... depending on how I intended to use the bike (for all around vs a lot of gravity). All in all for how I'm using my bike, as an all around bike with lots of tech and some park rides come summer, I'm happy with my choice of a large at 5'11".

Out of curiosity, has anyone done much tinkering with the Float X2 that comes stock on these? I put the clickers to whatever the Fox manual said and around 200psi for my 180lb to start with. Haven't done anything past that yet.
