Mine is due to arrive tomorrow as well, and Dirt Labs should have my 38 and DHX2 ready in the next few days. I got a frame protection kit that's black and grey, hope it works out to tone down all the orange...

Did they tune the 38?

Just a regular service + new bushings. I'm pretty happy with it stock.

DHX2 I may sell with my Enduro, haven't decided on that yet... not sure how much more I'd get for the bike if I included it.

Go it! Large Al frame with X2 comes in at 4790g w/ shock, rd hanger, seatpost clamp and axle. Pretty heavy, likely a little more than my carbon Enduro. I was expecting it to be near the same...

Carbon Spire would be around 3050g w/X2 according to Fanatik, taking their weight and adding 500g for the X2 shock, but I'm having a hard time believing there's a 1740g or 3.84 lb difference between the Carbon and Al versions. 3050g seems crazy light, that's only 1.3 lb more vs my Spur w/SIDLuxe so Fanatik's weights may not be correct.

Does anyone have a frame weight for carbon Spire?

The orange beast has landed!

Very stoked to find out that the EXT clears by a country mile. Now I have to cut the 5mm spacer out to get the full 170mm of travel.

The shock hardware was scary tight, good thing it is steel or it would have snapped/stripped trying to get it loose.

I'm going to try the stock Fox shock out as well, if you look up the build info it looks like they have an actual custom tune for it. The compression and rebound codes are TC1 and TR1, which I can only assume is Transition Compression 1 and Transition Rebound 1.

Not like the Specialized RX stuff which is just an off the shelf configuration most of the time.

Curious to hear your impressions!

Doing a bit more research the X2 weighs 656g so the L Al Spire is 4144g, Carbon is 2543g. That's a 1601g difference, and (4144-2543)/2543 x 100 = 63%. The Al Spire weighs 63% more than the carbon version, 3.53 lbs!

I wish Transition would have published weights and saved both myself and themselves the hassle. I'm asking to exchange it for a carbon frame whenever they come in.

Considering my main goal is to have a more versatile bike vs the Enduro, a bike that sucks a bit less on mellower trails and maybe climbs with a bit more vigor, this isn't going to work out. 😢

Have you weighed a large carbon frame? The sentinel frames only have a 2lb difference between alloy and carbon

I got the frame weight for the carbon model from Fanatik: Transition Spire Carbon Frame

I got the X2 weight from mtb-mag: [Test] FOX DHX2 & Float X2 - Shock vs. Shock

I verified my weight for the Al frame with Fanatik, they are very close. Paint vs Raw prolly accounts for the small difference.

I'd be ok with a 2 lb difference grudgingly... but 3.53 lbs more is too much and 10.58 lbs is a very heavy frame. OTOH, the carbon Spire is very light, 2.7 lbs less than my Enduro frame, so for what I'm looking for I really want the lower weight the carbon frame offers. I can wait for it...

I have about 5 rides in my Spire Carbon XT now, I'm really surprised by how spry it is even compared to my Ripmo V1. I lost the urge to ride the Ripmo and now want a bike that is further away from the Spire, like a more XC oriented bike (Ripley, Spur, Izzo, etc). I'm so impressed by this bike. Only thing I want to try is my Carbon 942 i9 wheels on the bike and maybe put an extra set of Code RSCs on.

All done and ready to rip. Weight came out quite reasonable.

Medium alloy Spire frame
EXT Storia w/ Cascade Link (180mm)
ZEB with Push HC97 and Vorsprung Luftkappe (180mm)
WeAreOne Union rims/I9 1-1 hubs
Saint Brakes, SRAM XO 11 speed w/ Shimano 11-42 cassette
Praxis Girder 165mm carbon cranks w/ OneUp 30t Switch ring
OneUp 180mm dropper and 35mm rise bar, 40mm RaceFace Turbine R stem

36.4 lbs with Tallus inserts

Nice. I've just received the medium xt alloy in orange. I'm still waiting a cascade link, push 11-6, ride wrap and smashpot. I'm going to reach adjust to my preference of 165 with a Works headset. According to the specs, I can run a one up post with 190 drop, so I got one of those coming too along with pedals and EDC light.

This will be just for Northstar, Trestle, and Whistler, along with shuttles.

I may try a double crown in the future.

You'll be stoked. It's a beast of a bike, but just rolling around it really does feel/act like something smaller. Does not feel like the 180mm alloy frame monster that it is.

I think it'll be pretty mean on the trails as well.

I swapped a smashpot for luftkappe and dropped 1 1/2 lbs from the ZEB. The spring and all that oil adds up!
