This just happened 🤘

Question, are any of you guys running aftermarket or extra downtube protection in the bottom bracket area? The stock guard seems a little thin and I think I remember a pic buried in here somewhere where somebody cracked it in that area.
Looking forward to see what you think! What shock are you going to run?

I'll try the super deluxe ultimate (2022) for sure but ultimately I'd like to put another Kitsama on If I stick with air. I'll need to check clearance and stuff to make sure that it will actually work. The SDU coil is high on my radar too as everybody seems to love that thing.

It will be a while before I get some proper trail time on this thing out here in the Cascades and am able to form an opinion. Cool as hell looking bike though and all the pivots are nice and big with big hardware, so far I'm impressed.

Your input on both the Enduro and suggestions on taking a look at the spire definitely influenced me to take a hard look at the spire and realizing it was probably the bike I was looking for. So thanks for that!

What build and color did you grab?
Gx, Gray. I actually like the gray a lot other than the decals, unfortunately they're printed on. I'm just going to move my XO1stuff over, shimano brakes, my fave bars OneUp, and try to get longer drop in my post. I'll need to decide between Noble TR37s on 240s (new to me) vs my existing farlows on hydras.

Check your bolts on the bike before you ride. I ordered mine direct like you, and it came with one completely stripped screw on the top tube mount (lame) and (worse than that) absolutely no grease on the trunnion mount bolts! The first ride I took it on it, I think I may have alerted every rider, hiker, and assorted animal in all 5500 acres of China Camp State Park to my presence with how goddamn loud it was squeaking and creaking.

Greasing the trunnion bolts silenced the bike completely, other than the rattle that I can't seem to get out of the OneUp when it actuates. OneUp support claims I just need to completely service the post and regrease the pins, but I haven't got a spare couple of hours to do that yet.

I definitely like to go through everything on a new bike. A quick once over and everything looks okay although it seems that the front axle on the Zeb was way torqued at one point in time. I'll take everything apart on the frame, inspect, grease, loctite, and torque. I don't think I've ever had a frame perfect from the factory which is kind of ridiculous considering how much these things cost anymore.

The oneup is dead simple to work on, one of the reasons why I like it. Greasing the pins likely will stop them from rattling around.

Anyone know of a good way to remove the printed on decals without damaging the paint?
I see silk makes vinyl kits for the Spire and well...I've got time to kill.

Just stick them over the top. Then you can remove to factory later if need be. I had invisiframe do the custom ones for my Bronson a few years back. Very good quality. I think I saw that you can even download the transfer file off of the transition website. That makes it easy to get the right templates.

Also if you use frame protection stick the decal stickers on top of it. It won’t suck down around the edges of the decals and looks like **** if put over top.

Curious, does anyone think going with the 44mm offset crowns would be a better move? Was worried about clearance on the frame.
According to info I got from Transition longer offset will help with frame clearance. Hence I decided to go for 48mm with DVO instead of Ohlins at 44mm that I had available. I can’t try both of the offsets before buying the fork, so went with the safer choice.

Also alloy bike has better clearance for DC forks than carbon ones.

Based on that I would suggest to try the shorter offset before committing. Double crowns are quite expensive.

I have a few rides on the Spire now and have a couple questions for any of those riding a coil.

I noticed the rear end felt very harsh and uncontrolled over chunk on the first two rides. This last ride I maxed HSC and some LSC and it felt much more composed in comparison, but some spikiness crept in.

I realized after that the 2023 RSUltimate Coil on it is an LL tune and it should likely be an M/M.

That said, I have a CC link coming and m wondering if that will make it better with the added progression, or worse with the change in leverage ratio from the link? Curious to hear others thoughts.

I've got almost two weeks on a Super Deluxe Ult Coil on my Carbon Spire. Its been an amazing upgrade to the stock X2 so far. I'm actually blown away by how much better it is. Traction is amazing, bike feels super stable jumping, and its so quiet. Feels like riding a magic carpet now. Between going from Fox Factory 38/X2 to the 23 Zeb/SDU Coil this bike has been transformed. I thought it was amazing with Fox, but its on another level now. View attachment 1996694
I hate to grave dig an old post, but can you confirm if the MRP spacers you used are the ones from older shocks? I have the spacers from my 2022 Super Deluxe coil, however the MRP website says that they will not fit the new 2023 model.

I'm running the 2023 shock now and it seems like the spacers would work fine, but wasn't sure why MRP said they are not compatible, and I don't want to mess anything up.

I tried the mullet setup for a ride as well. The good was it was bonkers fun. The bad was my bash guard took an insane beating here in AZ and there was no way I could ride it that low daily. I really do want to try a proper long travel enduro bike that’s actually built as a mullet first with longish chainstays after that little experiment though.

I keep waffling between wanting the Spire and the new carbon Patrol. The component spec on the Spire is more to my liking though, and it’s a few hundred dollars less expensive.

Bunch of "if"'s here, but if it been available at the time I got my Spire, and if I had a chance to demo it. That would have been a really tough decision. I also have no idea how it would feel in the chunky stuff as far as the rollover affect etc. I quickly determined that the Spire was going to catch something solid with a 27.5 on it, launch me, and possibly have frame damage if I tried taking it down a really rocky area. So my observations are just based on the AZ version of "flow".

Yes I'm running the MRP Rockshox spacers on a 2023 Super Deluxe Coil. I've had no problems so far and they fit just fine.

Hmm… any tips for getting the top collar to seat into the spacer? I noticed the springs on the 2023 basically snap in tight to the collar. The collar isn’t seating into my top spacer at all though.

Mine has a little gap between the spacer and the preload adjuster, it almost went away after the first ride. Hasn't seemed to affect performance and I haven't had any issues.

Appreciate it. I just chatted with someone at MRP about it and they said that some customers have shaved down the inner diameter of the 2022 spacers to make them fit the collar better. I shaved mine a little bit and it's now looking like yours gap wise, we'll see what happens after the first ride.

They did also mention that they are finishing testing for the 2023 spacers that will fit more flush in the next couple of weeks.
