Whelp, after studying geo charts for entirely to long and reading/watching many reviews I have a gray GX supposedly shipping out today.

I will bring over all my XO1 drivetrain & cranks, Oneup bars, either Nobl TR37's on 240's (haven't ridden them yet) or Nox Farlow's on Hydra's. I will definitely try to finagle more than the 180mm of drop but wish the seat tube was 34.9. Plan to run the Zeb initially but likely will see a Smashpot (on push coil now).

I also plan to dial back the head tube angle but am waffling between 1° or 1.5°. I feel like 1.5° would suit me better and I would actually make use of the low setting if I did 1.5°.

That brings me to the shock. I've ridden many Patrols and Sentinels (live in the PNW) and find them bucky. I think being able to dial in high speed rebound is going to be important for me. Are the newer Fox X2's reliable yet? Really like the Kitsuma on my current bike but the 205x65 is $$.
Any input on shocks? What shock are you riding, how do you like it?

Any Spire owners who've previously been on a larger sized Sentinel?

I rode a medium and I'm interested in a small Spire -I think running a +1 angleset would put the reach and wheelbase in an ideal range for me, but I'm not sure if I'd be completely missing the point of having a Spire.

Honestly that almost sounds like a Sentinel in S to me. I would highly recommend that you go demo a Spire in S.
I demoed a Spire and a Sentinel in medium size and they were both similar in how easy you can throw them around. However, I noticed the weight difference quite a bit. The Sentinel feels almost like a light trail bike, which I noticed a lot while pedaling or leaning the bike to the side. The suspension on both feels very similar -- I mean it's the same design.

I am riding the 2023 super deluxe air shock, which I can highly recommend. Especially given the cost of the shock. You have low speed compression and high speed compression. And all the clicks do something that you notice. It took me a while to figure out the springrate but now it's really good.
One last note on the super deluxe. If you get one, make sure to order the progressive air canister, since those are on high demand.
I haven't had a chance to try the 2023 super deluxe coil, but I want to buy one eventually! It has high speed compression (like the super deluxe), it is inexpensive (compared to the DHX2) and it even comes with a hydraulic bottom out thingy -- that you otherwise only get in the EXT shock.

The new super deluxe coil is definitely on my radar. I don't think I've read a single bad review...infact most people state it's the best shock they've ever run.

Doesn't their top air shock cone with the HBO as well? I need to figure out their dampening nomenclature. I would definitely want the one with more rebound deeper in the stroke.

That's one of the strange things. There are super deluxe air shocks with HBO but only available through OEM. Maybe you can have it installed by a tuner, but I don't know if you could do it yourself.
BTW: TheLostCo Shop is a great resource for questions like these on Rockshox products. I emailed them and they helped me out with the air canister stuff.

Good to know, thanks 👍. I think I ordered some miscellaneous stuff from them over the holidays.
