For you out of towners hoping for a shuttle up Oneides/Fountain place your out of luck for awhile. Farest you can drive is the parking area at the bottom of Toads, if you ride up the dirt road at the bottom of Toads you can take that trail that heads over to the lower corral parking to bypass, first left. They extended the trail and built a bridge over the creek to get you around the construction zone on your bike.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Construction is underway to improve a section of Fountain Place Road (1201) at Saxon Creek, off Pioneer Trail near South Lake Tahoe. Federal contractors supported by U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) construction crews are working to replace the existing 6-foot culvert with a 30-foot bridge and improve access by removing trees, patching asphalt, constructing infiltration basins and installing an 18-inch culvert. A detour around the construction area will be maintained for bicycle and pedestrian traffic, but the section of road under construction is closed to vehicles until the project is finished. The upper section of 1201 may be accessed from Powerline Road (12N08) to Saxon Tie Road (12N17).

Work is expected to be completed by the end of the grading season, October 15, 2018.

Have not ridden out that way latley but some strong but isolated thunder storms moved in a couple days ago made for some dark meat in the Corral area so I had a chance to get a first hand look.

Looks to be ADA compliant ;)

Ended up doing a big loop of Corral, Ceder, cold creek, star lake connector over Freel, was heading to Toads but a crashed in the loose decomposed granite on the backside of Freel (After forgetting to bring my gloves) left hand was pretty bloody and ragged. Was able to patch my self up and duct tape a toe warmer still stashed in the bottom of my pack to cushion it and bailed down Armstrong. Wildflowers near the streams on this route are going off, especially on the backside of Freel.

Anyway make alternate plans for probably the rest of the season till fall, seemed no work was going on Monday so those workers might be out on fire duty right now.

Thanks man - wish we had known this before last weekend :-( but all in all the suffering :) was worth it. Did Toads then one lap on connector and corral. Short on time so we had planned to shuttle some laps. The parking lot at Powerline and Fountain Place was full of tree destroyers, several downed trees, and there was a small section of debris on Ftn Plc.

Heard dudes were moving the barricade/signs and doing shuttles.

I dont think there suggesting that people drive, not sure its even open to regular vehicles, just the usual moto traffic which is generally light

I think autos on power line are legal, but ..... you’d better have a very high clearance vehicle. There are big “woops” on power line that would high center a regular car.

(Unless they’ve closed the gate on power line...which is possible. I’ve not been out there lately)

South Lake Tahoe Fountain Place Road closure FYI

Your correct closure is immediately after the bottom of toads, that area for corral parking may very well increase they have logged a fair bit around there

How far from the top of corral can you get? I was hopping to shuttle the wife and little one up to the top of corral. Can you get part way?

Disregard. I guess up to bottom of toads is a far as you can go

^^ Yep. Pretty similar stats as the parking lot to the top of Demo (that very few people have ever shuttled)! And if you only climb to Corral it's much easier--we usually do multiple laps. Hell, plenty of people have climbed the s/t all the way up (like TBC)! And if you continue the climb to Armstrong Pass and Toads, then Fountain Place will seem "pretty easy" in comparison.

I'm an old, slow, weekend warrior that lives at sea level, but I've never shuttled Fountain Place (not that I'm against shuttles). Caw! Caw!

Demo Parking lot to top of Ridge is indeed about 1300' gain .... but only 5% grade.
Plenty of bay area climbs of about 900' but 10% grade.

Plenty of Sierra climbs you can't shuttle and have to ride. Oh poor bikers :) .

But none of them are what I'd call easy.

(And I haven't done them close enough in time to compare climbing Incense Cedar/Sidewider/Connector vs Fountain Place. Certainly more fun!)

Climb incense Cedar and Sierra sidewinder. Even if that cuts down your number if descent laps, you'll get more fun into the day. AND you can separate yooer and lower Corral!

Also, incense Cedar is a must-do if you like the flow.

Those willing to ride up today were treated to dark meat after yesterday’s thunderstorms, still puddles on the trail on parts of connector and corral this morning, raining again right now btw

Have to say it’s pretty nice not having to deal with shuttle traffic on the road right now

Just so I am clear this doesn't impact a shuttle up Toads right? Can still take a Shuttle up Luther pass road and then take TRT: Grass lake spur to Trucker flat over to Toads.

Just have to find a different place to park at the bottom? Unfamiliar with the area but I want to do a Toads ride at some point.

That looks like a really good ride. Fountain place is the dirt road that used to be shuttled that is currently closed?

Any recommendations for a family / dog friendly camp ground in South lake / around that area?

Fountain place is a paved road and is closed to cars right now, Shuttles to Luther are still good to go.

Can still pedal up Fountain place to Armstrong pass and over to Toads if you have the fitness, beautiful dirt today from yesterdays thunderstorm, Toads finnally got reset and was riding great, two days ago it was blown out

^^ That's weird. All the way to the top of Armstrong or just Corral?

Those trails definitely get better after a few runs and you know what's coming! There are also some fun alt lines and features.

They drove across that tiny bridge with their cars?

You can still drive in from the end of Columbine Trail, but that seems pretty desperate since the dirt road from that direction is so whooped-out (Powerline or #12N08). I don't understand why pedaling up the pavement is that big a deal? That's the way everyone does it when the gates are closed, and a lot of people still pedal the road when the gates are open. Or as previously mentioned, pedal up Cedar and up Sidewinder.
