Sizing help - Meta TR v4.2

I'm fairly certain the TR will be my next bike - if I can decide on the sizing.

I'm 180cm tall, meaning that of course I'm right between the highest end of the scale for a medium and lowest end of the scale for a large. My pant inseam is about 86.3cm (34").

The goal of course is simple - I want a bike that fits well enough, and if I wind up with a large I want to be able to use the full dropper range. I totaled up the seat tube length, crank length, and the minimum length of the fully extended dropper. I wound up with....you guessed it, exactly 86.3cm (34"). What are the odds.... Obviously I don't want to be at full leg extension with the dropper fully extended. On the other hand years of experience tells me that the medium (17") will just be too small.

For those familiar, what is the real-world fit like with these?

Hey...is 34" pants inseam or the saddle to peddle length? I did the same mistake and just assumed my pants inseam, but your riding inseam (saddle to peddle - just measure on your current) bike is going to 1-2" longer. Think your shoes and ankle extension added the additional length.

I'm the same hight as you, I have a Meta SL, older bike, but I have Commencal hart-tail too and both bikes are small for their size. I am fine with that but to be honest, buying again, I'd buy the large.

Either bike will fit you I think, it just depends on how you want it to feel. Short and playful or long and fast.

I'm 5'10", went with a large AM V4.2. The seat-tube is pretty big, I had to go with a 125mm dropper slammed. I think I'd be just as happy on a medium, to be honest. I wouldn't call 'em small for their sizes. I demo'd a large Capra, which is smaller on just about all the dimensions (5-10mm in most cases).

When you did your length calcs, did you go to the min dropper length and then add the thickness of the seat? If you're considering a model that comes stock with a dropper, you can call up the guys in SoCal and have them swap dropper sizes (i.e. 150 for 125, etc). They're pretty helpful.
