I half-assed took some gopro footage from a northstar trip a few weeks ago. I figured the half-assed effort at filming at least deserved a half-assed edit to put some exciting parts on the internet.

I never had enough speed for the second jump in that video. I told the guys they needed to motivate me to pedal harder because I was slacking off.

I am hoping to do my first park ride there in the next couple months ! When do they close to transition to winter?

Here is one of my local trails. HOBO Have had to stay off a few weeks because of back issues but feeling better and this is good, so going to step it up next week to Solstice

I had a great season at Mammoth. Sadly I had two bad crashes during the last 3 days of the season. The worst was on closing day which depressed me. I actually hadn't gone over the handlebars all summer. It usually happens on trails that are above my level. I think I had exhausted myself physically and mentally trying to fit as much riding as I could that last week. The stupid chin mount I was wearing didn't help as the lip got shoved into my neck causing a throat injury.

I like making these videos because video production used to be a hobby of mine, and I like to show some of the cool stuff on the trails I ride (I max out at single black). They're not for people that love fast or super technical.

That last one knocked the air out of you?

That last one looked like it hurt. I couldn't help but notice- your seatpost is up really really high for descending at mammoth. It might make things a little less dicey with it slammed.

I generally keep my all the way down so I can quickly adjust my center of mass back past the seatpost if needed.

Surprisingly, no. I did hit the center of my chest hard on a big lava rock but the pain surprisingly only lasted a couple of minutes. The loss of voice was from my camera's chin mount jamming into my throat. The fact the my chest, back and even tailbone recovered fairly quickly makes me feel better about my physical shape for my age.

I've dumped that chin mount and bought a 3D printed one. In a crash, it will break and it's only $5 to replace.

That's interesting, thanks. I didn't catch that. Usually I ride it at the midpoint for most blue trails, and sometimes at its lowest when going through tighter rock gardens and on the blacks. I never intentionally use the highest point. It looks like my riding position is too far forward as well. That was clearly exhaustion on my part. I am curious now if the other two crashes were similar.
