Somewhere around 160? I ended up going with a DHX2 shortly after this, by the way. I really want to try this air shock setup again, but I think I'm going to hold off until I get my hands on the Megatower V2 then put the MegNeg shock back on my V1 before I sell it, while keeping the DHX2 as a backup to whatever air comes come on the V2.
I bet they change the shock size

Yeah, I saw someone else say that it's going to be 170 on both ends so that's totally possible. I have a Cascade link and 230x60 DHX2 on so it's at 170MM right now, so as long as it's still 230 eye-to-eye, I'll still have 5mm of spacers on the DHX2 to hopefully fit it one way or another. If not, I'll sell the air or coil and have the keeper on my V1 to sell it.

Megatower V2

I'm guessing the only real upgrade is more travel.
It's probably going to be a refresh more than anything. the V1 is three years old and a bit long in the tooth compared to modern geo.

I'm guessing it will be pretty close to what the new Bronson is in a full 29 flavor. A bit slacker HTA, bit steeper STA, tad longer reach, etc.

Edit: I'm assuming it will also have size specific rear triangle/chainstays as well, since the last few SC releases have had this.

Assuming that the geometry numbers from the original Megatower are from a bike with a 160mm Fox 36 and the V2 numbers would be with a 170mm Fox 38, I’m thinking that the HTA and wheelbase are more similar than suggested if you have a 170mm 38 on a V1

My large Megatower v1, with a 170mm Fox 38, long wheel base flip chip position, and high flip chip position measured about 63.0-63.5 degrees, when I checked with a digital level the other day. I'll double check again that I measured it on leveled floor and also the tire widths I'm running.

High price of the frame is definitely is a deterrent, but besides that, I don't feel like there are enough changes to make me really want to go from v1 to v2.

Yeah, the V2 reach, stack and maybe chainstays are a bit longer but the HTA isn't crazy different. The V1 had a HTA of 64.7° in low position with a 160mm 2020 Fox 36. The Fox 38 has 7-8mm higher axle to crown. So with a 160 Fox 38 the HTA should be somewhere around 64.3°. A 170mm 38 would put the HTA around 63.8°

Ya I was thinking that they would end up being fairly close on the HTA. Let me know what you find once you double check

Reach and chainstay are pretty close on the XL frame. And with the 38, under .5 degree HTA difference.

I think I’m happy with what I have.

I'm running a v1 large, 170 Fox 38, and Cascade Link with the stock 57.5 stroke. I agree the HTA is fairly close.

I plugged all the geo numbers into one of those online calcs that lets you plug in a say a fork with more travel/different AtC/etc to see the geo changes. I can't remember the numbers, but going from stock numbers to my setup really shortened up the reach and STA if I remember correctly. Cant' remember the stack comparison to the V2...

So for me I'm mainline interested in a new one due to the "corrected" geo, let's call it, to get the reach back where I like and the new kinematics/leverage curve.

But I can easily see where the changes cant' justify the cost for alot of folks.
