Salsa Cycles is introducing a revamped lineup of mountain bikes and eMTBs at this year’s Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, California. The 2025 collection includes updated versions of the Spearfish, Blackthorn 125 and 145, and a new carbon electric enduro bike called the Notch C.
This marks one of the largest mountain bike launches in the brand’s 44-year history. The updated platforms aim to serve a broad range of riders, from endurance XC racers to trail riders and eMTB enthusiasts.
Spearfish Returns for Long-Distance Efforts

The Spearfish returns as Salsa’s endurance XC platform. Built around 29-inch wheels, the new carbon Spearfish is designed for events like the Marji Gesick and the Arizona Trail Race. It features geometry tuned for efficiency on long rides and sharp handling on technical terrain.

The updated Blackthorn is now available in two configurations. The Blackthorn 125 is positioned as a highly tunable trail bike that balances climbing efficiency with confident descending manners. The longer-travel Blackthorn 145 targets all-mountain and backcountry terrain, offering added capability for steeper lines and longer descents.

Both versions share the same carbon frame, making it easier for riders to switch travel if desired. Notably, these are the only bikes in the trail category with two water bottle mounts inside the front triangle.

The Notch C is Salsa’s new carbon electric enduro bike. It uses Bosch’s Performance Line CX motor (85Nm torque) and offers adjustable suspension travel from 160mm to 180mm.
Split Pivot suspension, integrated storage, and a geometry tuned for fast, stable descending aim to make it a strong contender for all-day epics or eMTB enduro races.
