What's going to give the best results when lubricating a Rockshox Airspring in a Lyric l, Pike or Zeb. Just use Sram Butter or Sram Dynamic Seal Grease and some oil above the airspring.

The tech manuals list both options but is one better than the other in any measurable way?

I tried dynamic seal grease with and without oil. With 3ml of oil it creates a HORRIBLE mess inside the air spring. I don't know how Rockshox could recommend using it. Only rode the fork for around a month with dynamic and oil, and when I opened up the air spring pretty much all the grease was gone, and I ended up with this sludge and oil everywhere. And when I say everywhere, I do mean everywhere. A bunch of it migrated down into the negative. There was oil even inside the air shaft. 😅 Then I tried dynamic seal grease without oil. To me the fork felt a bit more rough that way, and it felt like it had a bit more stiction. Dynamic seal grease is pretty thick and hard in itself when it doesn't mix with oil.
Went back to slick honey (RSP slick kick, that's all I could find), now all is well and the fork feels great.

I usually do a squirt of Fox Fluid for the air spring, or a little slick honey.

Just a little FYI Slickoleum, Slick Honey & Sram Butter appear to be the same thing. If you need to buy any, get the big tub of Slickoleum much cheaper than doing little Buzzy's tubes or Sram butter.

Slickoleum $25 for 15oz

Sram Butter $12 for 1oz

Slick Honey $18 for 2oz

I like Slickoleum in forks and the heavier Dynamic Seal Grease in shocks where there’s not much/any bath oil. With the higher leverage and pressures it feels just as good, but I call feel the difference in (fresh) forks.

Dynamic Seal grease can definitely go longer before needing service, but most people go too long no matter the lube they’re using.
