Just saw that Singletracks named the Ranger the "best cross country bike of 2024". Congrats to Revel, and to us for being ahead of the curve lol.
Incidentally, the Rascal was named "best trail bike" and the Canfield Tilt (my other bike!) was named "best all-mountain bike".
Quite a haul for CBF suspension. (y)

Anyone with height at around 5'9, do you feel like the 150mm dropper from the medium frame is long enough?
I have 150mm dropper stock on my trail bike and it feels much better after I change it to 180mm. I just put a deposit on a X01 build ranger and I can customize it a bit before it got shipped.
Also, have anyone compare the fox and rockshox suspension on this bike and which one they prefer?

Ive had 150 droppers on several large frame bikes, (and then changed to a One Up 180). The 150 worked fine, I figure if I can touch the tire with my ass, then the dropper is long enough-lol.
I had a Rascal with Rockshox Ultimate suspension (Pike) and now have a Rascal with Fox Factory (36). I dont notice a difference.

My new V2 just arrived yesterday. For those of you with the DLC color in V2, curious about how your paint finish looks. On mine, you can quite clearly see carbon layup on the top tube and chain stays. Revel is claiming this is how the finish looks on the V2 and that hand painting varies from frame to frame. This is quite different from my V1 in DLC (yes, I have a type). Is this what everyone else's looks like?

TIA!

Yes, this is what mine looks like too. I remember being a little unnerved at first, wondering the same as you. I can see what look like "seams" in the layup in places.

But, one year later, I've completely forgotten about it until this post (lol). I think you'll find it's not an issue. Get a little trail dust on it and just enjoy the ride.

Likewise on mine, looks as your does. I actually like the look but I can see how you might be concerned when you first saw it. It is how it is supposed to be though so should be a non issue. Enjoy it!

I just bought a used V1 frame. How much slack should I leave for the brake hose and shifter cable housing under the bottom bracket? TIA

I found on my Rail 29 the cables tend to do what they want. So even if I flatten them out, they tend to end up looking rather slack. I've had similar experience with another bike that the cable/hose went under the BB. I'd recommend just tightening the cable guides snug but not too tight and not trying to leave a certain amount of slack.

Looks like we now have a V3 Ranger -> Ranger Cross Country Mountain Bike | Revel Bikes

  • New color!
  • 65.5 HTA (vs previous 67.5) and 76 STA
  • Updated bearing design for easier maintenance and a stiffer rear triangle
Icy Blue is nice, but I'm partial to blues and greens. Overall happy I pulled the trigger on a V2 frame recently, as the HTA/STA is what I enjoy riding for my trails. Surprised they cut so much off, but guess that's just the general industry pressure at the moment ~ must release new new new model, but what can we do to "significantly" change what we already have?

I suspect those geo numbers posted on Pinkbike to be from the new Rascal. No mention of a Ranger V3 on Revel's website, so it might be just new colors (unfortunately)

Appears to be a mistake on PB? Although an odd one as it was written into their content, as opposed to just being an incorrect chart. So just icy blue and updated bearing placements then!

I like the new blue color, it looks like they went away with the half gloss & half matte design now?
I much prefer the big "REVEL" on the bottom of downtube than the smaller one on the side though. I guess I understand how they want to show the brand easily.
100% agree, if you left it showing the large font on the downtube had a modern flair to it.
Or you could cover it up with black protection tape like me, and have a "stealth" frame.
New lettering on the side looks a bit of an afterthought though.
