Replace entire Bottom Bracket or Replace Bearings?

I just started working on my own bikes, so newby questions.

The last few decades, my LBS always replaced the entire bottom bracket when needed. Before I go to busy to work on my own bikes, I used replace the bearings. The only bike I had that used cartridge bearings was a Yo Eddy Team Fat Chance; I believe the rest were "loose" bearings.

My question is relative to DUB BSA 73 because at least three of my bikes use that standard; Also, not really considering ceramic bearings at this time: Is it worth it to just replace bearing cartridges or do most folks replace the entire BB. For a new build, is there a BB that uses better, more replaceable bearings?

A DUB BSA 73 is like $15 from Jenson right now, is it really worth the time/cost to replace the bearings instead of just changing out the entire assembly

FWIW, I just regreased my original DUB BB after 3k hard miles, the bearings are still smooth, the key is to not wash your bike often and be careful with where you're spraying the water...

You own 3 bikes, been a member here for 2 decades, but you're just now starting to work on your own bikes, I guess it's better late than never, good for you...(y)

+1 for the DUB BB - Same here with over 3K miles, smooth as the day I got the bike and I do wash often, showing the bike, not spraying hard stream.

I yielded to consumer economics and just keep a ‘ceramic’ 24mm BB generic on the shelf. Whenever a BB fails, the swap takes 10 min, and I order another one slow boat for $15.
They seem to last about a year or a race season.
Same as the Saint, XT, the Deore\basic and the sun tour. Better than the non ceramic generics.

This is why I'm running my 30mm spindle cranks for as long as I can, because the 6806 bearings are so easy to come by, vs. dumbshit Dub or that new smaller Shimano standard.

Actually, been a member since the beginning ...maybe 1999? ...but went inactive for a few years and they purged my account.

As mention, I used to work on my bikes and all my friends bikes too starting around 1986. I got too busy travelng for work in the mid 1990's and wanted to come home to working bikes plus the shop I rode for worked on my bikes for free. When you have professionals working on your bikes, it's hard to justify buying all new tools to meet the ever-changing standards, but thanks for the judgement! You might want to check your reading comprehension (and your aditude) as I didn't say, "I have 3 bikes" either.

You might want to check your writing abilities(and your attitude)
With your broken English and grammar, you try to call me out on my reading comprehension 🙄

Which I took as you haven't work on them before, my bad, I should have known that meant "I used to work on my bikes and all my friends bikes too" 🙄

I read "three of my bikes" yet I need to check my reading comprehension 🙄

BTW, I provided info about my experience with the DUB BB as well as the current cost of one, a thanks would have been more appropriate rather than your negative comment toward me. I'm not a mind reader where I know what you were thinking but didn't actually write it down, dude, closely reread what you wrote in your initial post
Adding you to my ignore list for your negative attitude when another member provides constructive feedback to your thread 🖕
