OneUp Components has updated its carbon handlebar with a revised oval profile, a new 760mm width option, and a higher 50mm rise for its full-width 800mm version. The redesigned bar, dubbed the V2 Carbon Handlebar, is now up to 33% more vertically compliant than the original, according to OneUp.

The V2 Carbon Handlebar retains the same 35mm clamp diameter, 8° backsweep, and 5° upsweep as its predecessor. It’s certified for downhill and e-bike use across all available widths and rises.

More compliance, same stiffness

The core of the redesign is OneUp’s proprietary ovalized carbon layup. The company says the updated oval section improves vertical compliance by 13 to 33% compared to the original bar, depending on rise and width, while maintaining steering stiffness.

The oval zone has also been tuned for each width to preserve the bar’s vibration-damping properties, even when choosing a narrower version.

New widths and rise options

The new V2 bar is available in 760mm and 800mm widths. The 800mm version now includes a 50mm rise option alongside the existing 20mm and 35mm options. The 760mm bar is only offered in 20mm and 35mm rises and is intended for riders who prefer narrower bars without sacrificing comfort.

OneUp says the 760mm V2 offers greater compliance than a trimmed-down V1 bar, and its more compact oval zone provides extra room for mounting controls.

OneUp V2 Handlebar Pricing, Weight and Availability

The claimed weights for the bars are as follows:
  • 760mm x 20mm: 220g
  • 760mm x 35mm: 220g
  • 800mm x 20mm: 235g
  • 800mm x 35mm: 235g
  • 800mm x 50mm: 265g
The V2 Carbon Handlebar is available now for $159.99 USD / $214.99 CAD.

I'll be purchasing a 50mm rise carbon bar this Spring and right now it's between this and the PNW Loam. I've had no issues with previous OneUp carbon bars, however I am interested in the additional backsweep of the PNW, and it has received a lot of very positive reviews. Might be worth going that route just to try something new since I'm sure either one will do the job just fine. Hard to get a definitive weight on the PNW 50mm but I think it's slightly lighter than the OneUp V2.

I used to run these bars, but the special profile is mostly useless if you rotate the bars enough. Considering the rotation is personal preference, I would says lots of people aren't benefiting from the design at all. Might just be my impression of course.
Personally I switched to the new RF Era bars, mostly because they make different lengths with different properties so you don't end up with stiffer bar after cutting it. It's nice to see OneUp followed though.

So you are one of the lucky ones who tested this new version? LOL

I've been running the OneUp Alloy bar for a couple of years now and I like it, but I cant say it actually makes any difference. I run them on my Stumpy EVO and on my Yeti SB5 I have 15mm rise RaceFace SIXC carbon bars, probably some of the stiffest bars you can get and I dont feel a difference in my wrists or hands. I would not avoid a "flex" bar, but I think rise and sweep and your stem/reach and suspension setup all in combination together probably has more to do with hand/wrist pain than flex at the bars.

Interesting take. Just goes to show that everyone is different. I absolutely can feel a difference between bars, but it isn't necessarily while riding. It is after a long ride where I notice I don't have as much arm fatigue or neck and shoulder aches. However I do feel the flex on hard landings. It is subtle, but it is noticeable.

On another note. Does anybody know when the 760mm versions will be available?
