Just sold my 07 SC blur. Rode it for 5 yrs. Now I'm bikeless
I was offered a 08 ibis with the below rebuild for 1400

Is it worth it to go with a 12 yo bike or just buy a newer 2014ish full squish ? Can't afford a new ibis unfortunately... :(

I'm an intermediate rider. New england root rock

08 Ibis Mojo Carbon frame w/ Fox RP23 rear shock, 140mm travel

Rockshox Revelation RLTi 26" 150mm fork

Shimano SLX 2x10 drivetrain

Industry Nine wheelset with high engagement hub 120 points / 3* of engagement - great for techy riding around here

Sram Guide brakes

I wouldn't do it...Here's why.

First of all, I should say I have in my garage and HDR and really loved that bike...but here's the challenge. Any bike you buy, after year 1 will probably need $1000 of TLC per year. If you can do it yourself, cut that down by at least half, but still...I'm guessing both your shocks will immediate need a full service - you're looking at $500 bucks right there...but how much life is left in everything else? When do you need a new drivetrain? Brakes? Unless everything on there is new, assume you'll probably have to swap everything out in the next year or so. But here's the kicker. . . you're still on 26" wheels. You're on old geometry. The good news is that that bike will make beginner and intermediate trails way more challenging than a new bike...You're better off on a 3-5 year old aluminum Giant...Any chance you could swing the RIPMO AF? Honestly I think this bike may be cheaper for you per year than the Mojo you're looking at, albeit with a bigger up front spend: https://www.backcountry.com/ibis-ri...ain-bike?skid=IBSB078-MET-L&ti=U2VhcmNoIFJlc3VsdHM6cmlwbW8gYWY6MTo1OnJpcG1vIGFm
