Not yet, I emailed DVO a few months ago and asked the question. They are looking into offering this option but no firm plans, I hope they do it as would prefer just black dials.

 

Are you referring to the dials and axles? I picked up this one on clearance without decals, it gets you most of the way there. I would guess it wouldn't cost much to have the green bits anodized black.

Anodizing doesn't work like that. You'd have to physically remove the green to get bare aluminum before you can anodize black. And most places will only do batches, and at a minimum cost, probably around $100-200.

 

I’m referring to the green dials. I get the marketing behind it. It’s genius. Everyone can immediately recognize your product. But it kills the aesthetics of many bikes.

You answered my next question about painting parts

 

Strip the anno and hand polish the items. Then the obnoxious green is gone.

I stripped the anodizing off with Easy Off oven cleaner to a raw finish then polished a bit

 

 

Adonized is a great surface to paint.

 

So just paint right over the day glow green?

 

Depending on the paint, you might want some primer

 

Just ask any local machine shop when they're shipping out a set of 6061 for black anodize next, and see if you can throw some bike parts in. You'll dodge most of the large batch costs. Stripping ano is pretty easy and the bare aluminum would look fine too. It'll dull over time with oxidation but it's no harm.

 

Asked DVO guys at Sedona Mtb festival is we will ever see all black from factory. Got told very matter a factly. No!

I agree that nothing is uglier than foxes kashima and orange. DVO's color scheme looks great. If you really dislike it, paint is the way to go.

 

I thought the point of the all black with green dials was those were the "murdered out" versions that would go with anything, rather than the green-lowers versions.

 

First thing I did was the remove the green bits and got them anodised black. So much better looking! Sorry for the pic, all I have on hand.

Get the shock (air or coil), take the green bits off and get them anodised whatever colour you want. Or pay a decent bike shop/mechanic/person to do it for you.

 

If you are going black anodize, it's used so commonly there is a good chance you can just add it to a batch they are already running and it will be cheap. Just got to go down and talk to the ano shops. Not even sure you'll have to strip it as they might even chem strip it for you.

They really should offer black as an option. The green suits some bikes but the black suits them all. Looks great.
