Does anybody know what happened to Mike Levy at pinkbike? He seems to have disappeared from everything they are doing.

It seems like he just wants to so his own thing on his own terms. No specific brand was mentioned my bad. I think that for alot of modern mtb people in the industry with large followings are almost better off doing their own thing to not be censored or to be their authentic self. He also states he doesn't like to be on camera and is doing other things outside of mtb but I have a feeling there will be possibly a podcast in his future?

I did not listen to the podcast. But it's not unreasonable to be suspicious of the bureaucracy. The permanent state is shady AF and secretive as all hell.
The lack of decent videos from cell phones of these crazy phenomenon is what keeps me pretty skeptical. And with the rise of AI generated video, it's possible I'll always be skeptical until one lands in my front yard...
As a nerd growing up in the Star Trek TNG heyday, I WANT to believe, but it all feels like a psyop these days. The internet has killed my inner child.

Yes, he moved on. I must say I think it might be for the best. Pinkbike is mostly a megaphone for the industry, and Mike Levy was leading it in the "Mountain Bike Action" (aka "fiction") magazine tradition of Richard Cunningham. Basically cheering up anything the industry shells out, and occasionally making up some, often questionable, objections on some details, making it look like they are doing objective reviews. Back in the day, that style of "journalism" was the main reason for the rise of MTBR, and its review sections. Pinkbike in particular is a bit of a joke, from their industry press releases cammouflaged as "first rides" , to their annual "best bike of the year" awards that last year had a gran total of five entrants in the trail category ...

I listened to the podcast the other day. I have to wonder, was he a founder of Pinkbike with ownership of the brand? Did he get a big fat check when Outside bought them out? That would explain a lot about his choice to go his own way and do his own thing.

The stuff about aliens, and video games and pictures of #2 was really a weird was to end the interview. Almost seemed like the guys interviewing him were trying to discredit him, and make him look bad so that he'd have trouble putting anything together going forward?

I think if he wanted to, he could become the Joe Rogan of MTB media. Just start interviewing people in the cycling world on his own terms. I'd listen to that. Or maybe he'll just retire early and spend his time sh*t posting on mtbr...
