thank you, I'll give that a try, wish us luck!
You could also put a 5mm spacer above if you like the stack height... though where that is cut seems like a tricky spot where you wouldn't have any/much engagement w/ a top one... but you could play around with smaller spacers below and a 5mm above to get it dialed in... but if you aren't getting proper preload on there, you will be doing damage, so don't ride it until you get that sorted out!

EDIT: I also find the Cane Creek 40 to just be a creaky SOB on top of the spacer issues... recently someone told me to grease the spacers up and that definitely helps. They all creak eventually and need to be cleaned.

I put a Chris King on mine and it's much better... but still needs some love periodically.

You guys see the Jeff Kendall-Weed video about using a Float X on the Ripmo? It seemed to address a lot of my complaints with the X2 - to the point where with Fox's 35% off sale, I went ahead and ordered a Float X.

I spent all week with a Shockwiz dialing the suspension, and the rear end just never got to the point where I felt super comfortable on it - wants to bounce around a lot, and riding Trestle yesterday it wanted to bounce me off the pedals on some landings, even w/ the HSR almost all the way up. Adding max volume spacers did improve it a lot, but still wasn't working for me the way the DVO Topaz had, so going to give the Float X a go.

FYI: You can get any 210xN shock and just adjust the travel reducers if you want to do this. I got the 210x52.5 and will remove one 2.5mm reducer to get to 210x55.

Hmm that's a pretty good deal. After taking my ripmo with a 38 and x2 to the bike park for the first time (Northstar) I had a blast but I think I might want a longer travel rig for that kind of riding, possibly race next year, and set up the ripmo for trail... if I keep it. Love the ripmo but I like trying new stuff and I've only owned a couple mtbs so far.

I know the 36 and float x have been preferred by many but now I want to try them. Already ran a Jade X for a while and it worked well but I feel like I'd enjoy the coil more on a longer travel bike along with the other parts I have.

Researching it now but can you increase the x2 travel? edit: to use on another bike

Are you asking can you increase the travel of the ripmo with an x2? No, that would be bad...

If you are asking if you can change the travel on an X2 and put it on a different bike, my understanding is yes, you can change the travel on any of them as long as the eye to eye measurement is correct for the frame you're putting the shock on - within limitations... The Lost Co has a video where they showed a chart showing the different amounts of travel you could have for different eye to eye lengths.

Yeah, I meant to use on another bike if I keep the x2. Thanks

OK, i've got a xt build fox 36 & float x2 ripmo V2 carbon, my first full suspension, and I have to say, this thing is creaky/crackly, it's like snap crackle pop every time I ride, time for another visit to another LBS to get it sorted out. Last time it was the headset, guessing it is again, if so, any suggestions for different brand (or is the Crane Creek or whatever it's called that came with the bike decent enough and this is just part of the fun that comes along with full plush)?
Mine was AWFUL.

First it was the bikeyoke, so that's on another bike now....I wanted more travel anyways than the one it came with. Apparently a known issue with bike yoke droppers.

Second was the CC40 headset. Needed to be disassembled and reassembled every 50 km or so.
Lbs I got it from "this is normal for an enduro" well...certainly not my other 2 enduros that have never needed an overhaul....or my winter fatbike....or my gravel bike with the same headset and about 5000kms of silent riding.

I had an enduro max hit installed but haven't had much ride time since so we will see after this weekend if it holds up. The longest the Cc40 went without creaking was about 80kms

Additional rattly noise points to the Shimano XT finned brake pads. I'm used to this one already and I put mastic tape on the caliper to keep the rattling down.

Next up is the cable inserts....gonna 3d print some Tpu sleeves to quiet that up....

on another note.....anyone else have issues with getting the rear end to be soft on an X2?

I run my LSC HSC wide open and it's still pretty stiff with little soft bump compliance and don't even bottom out on small hucks to flat. I sent the shock to fox for a service....hoping that fixes it.

175 rider weight, 185psi, tried lowering to 175 psi but that felt worse.

Let us know what Fox does with the X2 because I too feel that the compression does nothing but I have heard they are swapping x2s for MY24. I am near identical weight, a bit over kitted, and I am running 205psi in the x2 to hit just about 30% sag standing. If you are at 185psi you are most likely sitting beyond the midway point and why you are not enjoying the small bump because you already skipped that part in the shock travel and are sitting too far into the stroke. Definitely check your sag and you should be at 30% standing unless you sit on more then check it there but either way that sounds really like really low pressure. That is unless you have a bad X2 then nothing will fix it.

I don't like the bike yoke either but the headset has had zero issues and I have had CC40s on my last 3 bikes.

I run a shockwiz and my sag was just under 30 with a dynamic sag of 33- 35 (sag while pedaling)

I have set up a shock whiz on numerous bikes and you can definitely set them up wrong. I'm not saying you did this but the float x2 has an internal rubber bumper and if you don't fully compress that when cycling the shock is you won't get the proper ratio and everything you read it will be wrong. Either way I hope you figure it out. I just find it. Curious that I'm running nearly 30 PSI more for the same weight.

I know the float x2 model year 2023 and below have definitely had issues.

My other enduro runs 190psi but it's less progressive and feels way better than the ripmo on small bump. Also has 1 less spacer. Ripmo has 2 put in

I haven't tossed the shockwiz on it, but the sag is in the 25-30% as well

Likely that FOX will replace the shock with a 2024. The 2024 is a pretty different shock but I am not sure how it feels on the Ripmo vs. the older version. Have others used the 2024?

Will find out soon hopefully. It arrives at their facility today. I imagine they will Tune it to the same ballpark as the original with the shim stacks and all.

Unfortunately, I doubt I'll get it back before the snow flies.

Just bought a new fox float x off someone that they took off a bike and will replace the x2 that came on the bike. Doesn't come with bushes though.
Those who swapped over shocks, Can i swap X2 ones over or do i need to buy new ones? If so which ones?

ok, so it's been almost 3 yrs with the V2, how often do I need to check linkeages/replace the "bushings" ? Thanks in advance for any knowledge you may have regarding this topic....

Honestly, I very well could have set it up wrong. I was very firm on compression when doing the calibration. I'm pretty sure the oring was right to the top. As for air pressures, I used to run around 205psi on my other bike which ended up around 25% sag (manually measured) but I found that to be very rough and never even came close to using up the travel. I set the ripmo up manually when it was set to 185 @ 30% sag, this is before I got a shockwiz. Shockwiz just confirmed it.

I didn't actually consider your original suggestion of raising the air pressure to be more in the midstroke but something I can experiment with when I get my shock back next week

Spent a week on the Float X after battling the X2 for a few months on my V2S...

Seems like an instant improvement to me. Way more fun, way more active, less harsh in chatter... waiting on some volume spacers because I'm bottoming it out a bit more than I'd like, but overall, I think it is a significant improvement for me!
