Something different:

How do you guys like the look of my Ripmo after installing the new frame protector? Might divide opinions :D
You are right it will divide opinions. Not my cup of tea if I’m to be honest. I have a BZB Ripmo as well but it has clear Invisiframe on it and IMO it looks mint. There seems to be a bit of a pattern I’ve noticed, pun intended, that you guys on that side of the pond seem to like your bikes with contrasting colour schemes. Personally I don’t but its all about personal taste and if we all did everything the same the world would be a boring place.

at first I thought it would be too much but after seeing it on, i have to admit it's much better than the boring out of the box look of the ripmo. I've been wanting to add stuffs to my frame as well but being my first carbon bike I'm worried it'll effect the carbon somehow (I know, sounds stupid, again, it's my first carbon frame)...

No experience with DyedBro but I use a combo of Invisiframe and a semi rigid product
from All Mountain Style on the top tube and downtube area (just above the shortish OEM BB guard) — more for protection than aesthetics but AMS offer graphics in subtle tones as well. No heat required for install either.

Bike has taken 3 minor tumbles since I got it in March and not a scratch! One fall had my riding shoes rubber prints smeared into the side of the front triangle- some wax and super fine sandpaper grit took that right off the Invisiframe film as if it never happened.

I actually had a clear Dyedbro protector on the top and downtube on mine at first, or clear with GLITTER ✨ in it to be exact, hahah. Had those pieces left over fromour kids bike, so put them to use before I got my hands on the RRR one.

I do like the clean look too, and also this new look with the Cobra. In my opinion the design fits the bike well and gives it some extra character. But the biggest point to me is that you can alter the look quite easily with not too much money, keeping the bike more fresh to yourself, not needing to upgrade maybe that often :D

Btw, just got my new 40mm stem and carbon bars to get rid of the flexy Ibis alloy one. Now, what was I saying about needless upgrades…? 😅

Thanks! Here’s a pic too

Hey man,

I'm about too build an identical bike. What were your favorite upgrades? I'm debating about going the same route accept stock brakes and possibly carbon wheels.

Thanks

Anyone who rides a v2 or AF with a Fox Float X2 2021 and tried the cascade link? Is it even needed with the new X2?
Have not tried, no idea how it would ride.

Currently I don’t feel a need for a more progressive rear, almost more of the opposite side for me as I could happily ride with a bit less sag but then I couldn’t use all the travel that effectively.

My setup: Ripmo V2 2020, SLX build with Factory 36 and X2. Mods: 40mm stem w/carbon high rise riser. My out of bed weight is 75kg. I usually ride with a lighting pack on the back

Fork: 71-72psi, clicks depend heavily on weather conditions and trail. As little damping as possible, but sometimes even maxed on HSC. LSC usually circa halfway.

Rear: 190psi. Clicks are weather dependent too, especially now with freezing temps. Some HSC but never maxed out.

Was jumping this week at a pirate trail. When overshooting jumps slightly, landing deep, I had some harsh bottom outs with the fork at full HSC even with the pressures above. No similar symptoms with the rear though. Here’s a clip from the spot:

I’m thinking of adding a volume spacer in the fork now, as I don’t want to run less sag. Our trails here are mostly quite flat so I don’t want to slacken the bike more. Not for regular trail riding at least. For enduro races I’m tempted to try out a 170mm air spring for added traction and slacker stance for the higher paced and slightly steeper race tracks.

Got mine today with a Deore build - came in at 32.95lbs without pedals. Will be doing a bunch of parts swapping I have and am hoping to get it in the low 29's or even the high 28's, but that could be tough with the Fox 38 on it. I really just wanted the frame, fork and wheels with the wheels being my bike park set; I'll be building a carbon set as soon as I get the rims in.
Wish the bike came in black; neither the grey nor the aqua look that great to me from a coloring perspective. The build quality looks great, though.

Has anyone replaced the lever on the KS Rage dropper? If so, did it help it feel better?

I am coming from an sdg tellis And have not been a huge fan of the KS Rage so far

Ive got my '22 v2 set up with a Mezzer and a Float X now. I'm 240lbs and had to run the x2 with max pressure so swapped it for a Jade X coil at first and now the Float X. I am really trying for a great climbing, long travel trail bike and I feel like I'm close to exactly what I wanted. The Jade X made a hoverbike out of it but is just too much work to pedal. The lockout works great but who wants to mess with that on long trail rides? The float X can't come close to the coil on the downhill but is quite a bit friendlier for all around riding. The Mezzer? Love that fork.

I tried to keep everything as light as practical, now have a 2.6 t9 Butcher on front and a 2.4 Mazza on the back. Really sticky but light rubber. the Ripmo climbs chunk like a goat. Weighs 31.9lbs with 203mm rotors front and back.
Here's a pic on top of Mack ridge after climbing Hawkeye yesterday (near Fruita co)

Yes and somewhat. The KS Rage I have seems to have a fair bit of stiction on the initial engagement part of the lever press. After that it's smooth. The new lever helps because it has more leverage than the stock Rage lever.

I was disappointed to find they are only shipping with Fox 38's now. I've had my bike on order for 4 months and really don't want a Fox 38. I'd much prefer the 36 as I'm more a trail rider.

So tell them not to fit the fork and sell it complete, uncut and unused in the box and the money you’ll get for it will cover buying a Mezzer Pro which is substantially lighter and still stiff as anything and wicked to ride. They are quite a but lighter than a 36 too.
