im 5'6.5" with 30 inseam. what size should i get? I'm still thinking if i will get an SL or SLR for xc. i have a nomad 2 currently.

I am the same size as you and I have a Small SL-R on the way from Competitive Cyclist. I chose them for they offer a no questions asked return, we emailed back and forth and this would apply to bikes as well. They felt a small would fit the best and if I did not like it just send it back and they will send me a med. Seems worth it for the guarantee of a bike that fits.

As a starting point, look at the effective top tube measurement of your Nomad and compare it to the Ibis sizes.

When I did this, I found that my previous bike was right between a medium and large (I'm 5'8"). Since I was going to use the bike in technical areas, and I like a smaller bike when it gets really technical (I feel like I can whip it around more), I chose the medium.

There are a number of threads on this issue. Some of the sizing also depends on your preference--do you like to ride 'in' the bike, or 'on' the bike.

I am 5'9" on a Med SL, which is what Ibis and Competitive Cyclist recommended. I am running a 90mm stem and it feels good. A little more cramped than what I am used to (Large SC Superlight), but I have cleaned rocky switchbacks on this bike that I never did on the Superlight.

The bikes run a bit small... My guess would be a medium--not cause of your height but cause of your leg length...Medium with a 50 or 70mm stem.. LIke suggested before-- go with competitive cyclist and if the med is to big-- send it back and have them put on a small.. That is why i went with CC when i got my HD in Jan.. I was worried the xl would be to big-- turned out to fit jussst perfect...

I have owned both small and medium mojo's. i dont think you will go wrong with either, but i prefer my small (I'm 5'5.5" without shoes, 31" inseam). I prefer the small because i feel like the bike is more under me, and my weight is distributed evenly over the front and rear of the bike. I am currently running 70mm stem, but could easily go with 90mm. On my medium I had a 70mm stem and always felt like i was on the tip fo my seat and losing traction over the rear wheel. I liek how the small handles but it is pretty small. I have a lot of seatpost showing. I also went with competitive cyclist for the return policy. You might want to fil out their fit chart as well, it seems to be pretty accurate.

I'm the same height and riding a 07 large mojo with 65 mm stem. Took the large HD for a ride and while it climbed waaaaaay better than my 07 it did feel big. Shop owner said that I would fit a medium as the HD's are running a little bigger in size. If the SL-R hadn't come out I'd get a HD in a heartbeat. Now I have to wait and compare .

I agree with Slideways....because of your leg length (inseam).
I'm 5' 10.5" and inseam is about 31.5"
I went with the L sized frame...after much analysis paralysis.
Some of the posters in this thread helped my decision (for which they were duly thanked).
If I'd gone for the M frame, I would have regretted it.
I found that out quite by accident, as the importer (here in Korea) shipped my LBS the wrong frame size, and my mech built it up. During the fitting, something felt odd....is this really a large? Hmm....read the serial number to the guy and he about had a heart attack, apologizing.
Anyway, it all ended well...I'd suggest that you measure your reach as well, and use the fit calculator to help determine it.
If it were just inseam and body height, I'd suggest a Medium, based on my experience.

Late reply but im running a 50mm stem with 711mm bars. Bike came with 90mm, fit was good but didnt feel like i had full control. With 50 mm stem, i have alot more control at high speeds but am slightly seated more up right. Climbing does get handicapped with 50mm for me.
