How much play is normal between lowers and stanchions?

I have a 2023 Rockshox Recon Silver RL and I've noticed that I have a slight rocking when the brakes are locked. If I place my hand where at the fork seals I can feel the stanchion rocking in the lowers. It's not the headset as I've adjusted that recently. Is this normal? It's not very much, but I can feel it.

Thanks, I just don't won't to go through the warranty process unless it's not normal.

I don't know how sensitive you are, but it's never actually zero. There'll always be some minimal flex there or the fork wouldn't move. Compare it to another bike, ask a friend or stop by the shop (maybe feel a couple they have on the floor). It is a very small amount.

IME it's normal to have a small amount of play. There's always going to be an assembly tolerance between the bushings and stanchions, it can't be a zero gap. Sometimes you get lucky and it's so small that it's unnoticeable, sometimes it's more. Bath oil will fill the gap during use. If you feel it while riding well then it's probably out of spec.

recons are a good entry fork on mid-to-low price bikes, and way better than
suntour garbage, and also better than some high end of 20 years ago....but compare
to what is on the market today, they are best to...use them up, then upgrade when they
get sloppy.
