Hi riders,

I just got myself a standard used GT Arrowhead. Nice decent looking bike for short commuting purposes. I tried to search the forum but I couldn't find any info/specs/pics of the arrowhead. I wonder how other Arrowhead looks like. Cant find much on google as well. :cryin:

So, I'm calling as many as possible GT Arrowhead owners to post their ride and specs here for me to get some inspirations. I may need some upgrade. Thank you.

I'll start with mine..

Fork: Excel 515 Sync
Brake caliper: Promax
Front D: Shimano Altus
Rear D: Shimano Acera
Crank: Shimano Altus
Rim: Weinmann
Saddle: WTB SST.X
Seatpost: Kalloy

Just by looking at it, you probably need to lighten it up some for trail riding. Since the components are low level, maybe single speed? That way you toss the heavy deraileurs/shifters etc. Toss the suspension fork too for something rigid [and light] and you should be in business. Again, these are just my opinions, I'm sure others may disagree.

My first bike was '98 yellow Arrowhead.

According to decals and v-brakes, yours is probably from '99. Mine had a cheap suntour fork and cantis. As long as I remember '97 model was of goldish colour.

bad things about arrowheads are short ETT although I'm not sure here and frame weight (my 20" had a 2.3kg frame). Nonetheless, if you like it, keep it. Their frames last forever.

you did a good job on building the bike.
I'm thinking of changing the fork as it squeaks when ever I roll over a hump. This is my city commuting bike, a short travel fork will do.

If I were to change the fork for the SR Suntour XCR, I must change the stem as well right? Or I can reuse back the original stem?

Getting there, the frame is nearly stripped ready for primer. There are a couple of dings to sort out. The unwanted cable bosses have been removed and the Insync 515 Excel forks have been buried for eternity. Replacing with eXotic rigid ones :)

Sorry for the poor quality photos, Blackberry got covered in paint dust during the stripping process!
