Hey, first post. I'm an experienced mountain biker, but kinda a noob to frame measurements, stuff like that. I was thinking about buying SR SUNTOUR RAIDON XC LO R ? SR SUNTOUR NA Inc. that fork through the Suntour upgrade program, but don't know how to tell if it would fit my bike. (Are all head tubes standard, or do different ones require different sized forks)

Thanks.

That's a good fork for the price. I had one. And yes. Steer tubes are standard to a point. Straight 1-1/8" diameter and taper. 1-1/8" at top and 1-1/2" at base. What bike do you have? Chances are it's a straight tube being that u want to upgrade to a raidon

Yours should be a straight steerer 1 1/8".

What does the upgrade program get you? Unless you're getting the fork for about $100, I'd be going with a Rockshox recon or reba or a Fox.
^^^^ This.

Marginal upgrades don't make a whole lot of sense. Budget something with adjustable compression damper if keeping the bike or ride what you have. The RS recon silver solo air RL isn't much more than the ebay SR. RL indicates motion control as opposed to TK.

But if you have a crappy no damping coil fork then it is a great upgrade. Lighter, Air fork adjustability, Rebound adjustment and some compression damping. Many a bikes are ridden, and ridden hard with only rebound adjust. I should know, I ride one

Been there. Don't know why someone wouldn't spend another twenty bucks for a feature most people prefer if spending that much money.

I have the Raidon. The thing with them is that there aren't many seals that can be blown. The air chamber has one air piston at the bottom. If that is worn out, it costs $10 for a new one. Change the oil every couple of months, depending on your riding style, and it should last you a long time. Easy to service and feels good.

Make sure since you have a Trek that your current fork is either a G2 geometry or not. Trek is the only one who uses that G2 system, most forks are not setup for G2.
