I do only because my son who I bought it for never got into riding even after I upgraded the brakes to juciy 7s and changed the rims to DT swiss x430s and replaced the drive train even made my own bash guard, so right now it is doing indoor trainer duty till spring than it is back to XC riding on trails I feel are to mellow for my prophet.Oh yeah almost forgot to mention it is a 2000 700sx.

i have an '03 Jekyll. I have ridden it almost everyday since i bought it in Oct '02. I live in New England and have ridden thru all types of weather. Components have worn out and i toasted the rear shock once othere than that the frame has been bullet proof
You can see it in my profile

I did.. until stolen last week

I had just raced it in a 12hr race solo. It was a 2001 model 2000. The best upgrade I made was a pushed rear shock. I had upgraded every other part on the bike except the seatpost. It had Spinergy wheels, XTR drivetrain, EC90 bars, WTB SST.98 seat, Ergon grips, Nevegal tires, Avid Juicy Ultimate brakes, Race Face Next LP cranks, Race Face Signature Ti BB, SRAM PC991 chain and so on.

My favorite trail bike so far.

I have a riding buddy who rode an '04 3000 until this past season when the frame cracked while he was just riding it. Seemed like a simple case of fatigue failure and Cannondale gave him a new alloy Rush frame to replace it (though he had to pay for a new shock, as the old one didn't fit the Rush of course.)

Back when we first started riding together, I rode his Jekyll once, and immediately replaced my bike with a Cannondale so that I could have a Lefty, so I blame the Jekyll for the fact that I can never again buy another brand of bike.:)

Were you at the recent Temecula 12 hr?

I don't think you can get a better looking bike than a Ball Burnished Jekyll!! I dare someone to argue that!:D
well, i personally think my bikes are even better looking, but in all honesty that is one hell of a beautiful finish.

and to the threadstarter; it obviously works like crazy so why replace it? Just because there are newer more refined frames (in terms of travel rates and materials) doesn't make this anything but a superb bike if you think it is. I've never tried a jekyll, but it sure would be fun to do so.

After 20 years of hard tails I bought a used 2003 Jekyll 1000 frame and had the rear shock rebuilt by Fox and the Lefty rebuilt by Cdale. I built it up with XT/LX/Hone stuff to see if I could learn to enjoy full squish. I have enjoyed it immensely for the past 6 months. :)

I liked FS so much, I recently bought a new '08 Turner 5-spot. Now I'm not sure whether to keep the Jekyll as a backup or sell it and get something totally different.

The Jekyll is a very versatile and enjoyable bike. It made me realize FS bikes can work for me.

Just heard back from the shop about my frame. Cannondale is going to warranty it but with a rush. I was hoping for the Rize but the Rush will be just fine. I have a Rockshox Revelation that I plan on putting on it that has 130 mm of travel and I'm wondering what that will do to the feeling of the bike. Anyone else running 130 mm of travel up front?

I bought a used XL 2003 in 2006 to see if I liked riding the trails, then over time upgraded all parts except for the Thompson seat post and XTR cassette, with newer XTR cranks, pedals, shifters, brakes, chain, Easton carbon bars, Ergon grips, Spinergy Xyclone wheels that I rebuilt with Stan's Olympic rims, longer stem, and WTB saddle. Had the rear shock rebuilt by PUSH, probably the best single upgrade I did.

Still riding my Jekyll! Ive upgraded almost everything over the years.

I love the adjustable geometry and solid feel of the single pivot suspension. Ive had kona's and jamis that came and went but the jekyll is here to stay! I recently got a prophet 3 frame and built it up as a sllightly 'bigger' bike for more agressive trails and I use the jekyll as my xc bike.
