Damage to my 1Up rack

Two summers ago I accidentally backed into another vehicle while leaving a parking lot. It caused a crack in the rack, as seen here. I figured it was no longer safe to use, so I bought a new 1Up rack immediately, and threw this one in my garage.

Fast forward a couple of years. I am getting ready to move cross country and am packing. I am debating what to do with this. Shall I hold onto it? Would you use the rack with this crack? Is it truly unsafe to use? It still seems very, very sturdy. Could I somehow salvage the swing arms and add to my current rack? If so, how? Would it be easy? Shall I see what I could get for it from a metal recycler?

I'm just at a loss on what to do with it.

I'll take it off your hands for the cost of shipping and the amount a recycle would give you.

If it's a replacable component, I'd call oneup and see if they can get your a spare part. Unless it costs a lot, worth it. You could also get it welded/repaired, but that might cost more than it's worth.

Based on your pic, I have no idea which part is broken. But wouldn't it be common sense to call 1up and get their opinion?

It would never occur to me to ask this type of question on an online forum vs calling someone who actually knows wtf they are talking about.

Since the 1up racks are essentially bolted together it makes fixing them fairly straight forward as long as you have the tools. When someone did a hit and run on my rack and broke the same part, I just emailed them with that picture and they had me pay for the replacement part via their shopping cart. I got it in the mail a few days later and swapped it out on my own.

I think I want to part with it anyway. I want to move light.

If anyone wants a great 1Up rack, I will sell it to you for $50. You buy the plate for $45, and you've got yourself a perfectly good $300 rack for $100!
