I tested this out for the first time this morning. Pretty good, I think. I tried it on the bars first, but the helmet is better.

Probably the best option would be one on the bars and one on the helmet.

How does it go from the magicshine to the lezyne adapter? The garmin quarter turn mount is held with a teeny tiny screw on the light head. Then the garmin quarter turn goes in the mount that adapts to gopro.

I may have 20 bucks in the mounts with enough extra pieces to mount another helmet light up. Probably for the wife if I can get her out at night on the trail.

Edit: I can ride with the helmet light only, it's more than bright enough on medium.

You need to remove the Garmin adapter that mounts to the lighthead and use that hole as the attachment point. You may have to source a different screw or use an appropriately sized washer if the screw head is too small for the attachment hole on the new adapter.

If your going to use this same style of light on your bars you should try one of these wide angle lens replacements. Slightly dimmer but much wider beam works much better than the round beam you get with the clear lens (IMO).

The screw on the magicshine is really small. Way smaller than the hole for the lezyne adapter. Maybe a big washer could work? However, the bottom of the magicshine light is curved while the lezyne is flat, and the screw also goes in at about a 30 degree angle on the magicshine, not straight in from the bottom. I may buy that adapter to see if I can rig it up, it's cheap enough, but may be more trouble than it's worth.

I have 2 Monteer's, 4 RN's, and a DA2500 (Chinese version of the Ray) and they all have basically flat surfaces the Garmin adapter mounts to and screw straight in so was assuming your older 906 was similar. Working around the curved mounting surface shouldn't be too much of a problem but I think the angled mounting screw would be deal breaker. If you come up with a solution would love to see a picture of it!

I run Niterider Enduro Pro lights.
The strap mount for my regular helmet is actually a good one.
But for my full face I run the chin bar mounted one.
As for battery life it's still fairly solid even on the coldest rides I do. But then again they aren't as long as my summer rides.
But in all fairness I would like a gopro adapter for the lights. The strap mount is quite tall, and I would prefer a lower mount.

My headlamp setup. The visor has a mount that lets me use a Go Pro style mounted light. Connected to a Ravpower power bank in the pack.

Here is Van C's picatinny mount. Fits a pistol mounted light perfectly...but unfortunately the run times of these types of lights are really short at around one hour.

This one has a three hour runtime on low.

My biggest issue with helmet mounted lights is that they project at about the same line of sight as my eyes so that shadows from rocks in the trail don't show up, making the ground look flatter than it is. My bar mounted lights are low enough to project shadows I can see. I usually have to aim my helmet lights farther ahead for a broader view and keep the bar lights aimed down to bring out the shadows.

I had the battery on my bar mounted light go flat on me leaving me with only my helmet light. Yeah…I had a hard time seeing the holes and bumps in the dirt. That’s why I’ll never ride with just a headlamp. Riding with both is the best way on the dirt. Road…I just use a bar mounted light.

When I was testing my setup for the first time, the light came unplugged from the battery pack. Everything went totally black instantly. Brakes worked great though, ha ha.

Those pistol lights, although typically bright, have abysmal run times. Plus they get extremely hot on high.

I love them for my Glocks, and the Scouts for my rifles, but there are far better and cheaper options for bikes.

The Outbound Hangover, which as stated I have, is $125 I believe, and will run on Medium for 3 hours. High will give you 90min. The Medium setting on the hangover blew my 700 lumen Niterider light out of the water. Not just on sheer lumens but also on beam pattern and weight. It’s also significantly more streamlined and mounts forward on a go pro mount vs the Niterider with a GoPro mount which is on top.

To the OP, what helmet do you have?
