I don't remember if I've ever seen just the hose as a replacement piece. Why not just get a new bladder? Sounds like you got a lot of life out of the one you have :yesnod:

 

if you drink water from the faucet then you certainly dont need to worry about the material the tube is made from as long as it wasnt previously used to siphon gas from cars

 

Actually this bladder is pretty new, less than 1.5 years. I am sure the issue started when moving and packing the bladder- hose got kinked and sat like that for three weeks. Plus- I am one of those "reuse/repurpose" kind of people and try to consume less. I know there is a food grade hose available- just curious where to pick it locally before I order it.

While I am at it- I have only tried an MSR bladder once, any other good ones I should look at instead of Camelbak should I buy another bladder?

 

try medical tubing, I'm sure its chemical free... all the cool kids drink water through a catheter.

 

I've been using Dakine packs for the last few years and the bladders have been pretty decent. The newest one has a full size opening with a slide lock which makes it easy to fill with ice cubes. The only complaint I have is the bite valve, it kinda works a little too well. I've drained plenty of water in the car and on the ground just from laying the pack down on that thing...The good thing is that all the bladders seem to use the same size hose so swapping out to different valve is an easy thing.

 

You know- the garden hose analogy sealed it. I don't know why I worry so much. At 38, having been a motorcycle, aircraft and bike mechanic my whole life- I probably have more toxins in me than a peice of fuel line will do to me. Thumbs up to LHM!

Thanks for the word on the Dakine Ken. I need another two bladders for the endurance races I want to do later in the year.

 

home depot sells med grade tubing by the foot in various sizes.....good for all sorts of home products

Why not call Camelback see what they have to say. I have heard that their customer service is very good. Some stuff is lifetime warranty, most stuff 2 years.

The tube extener works great.
I got a HAWG, and the tube it came with ws only 36", so I emailed Camelbak, and they sent me out an extender kit which is just a 40" peice of hose, and their basic bite valve w/ cap. Swapped them out, and I'm good to go. REI and Dicks sell 'em

 

I just use the tygon tubing from the hardware store.

I've had great luck with Camelback service. I send them the delaminated tube and they send me a new one back, free of charge. I've done this a few times.

 

I'd go to Swiss American and order a 'tube extender kit' from Camelbak. Nick, Gary, Mark and Heddy are great peeps! The kit is $9 retail.
