It means one of two things, the first being the more likely

1. An o ring has become cut inside and oil is leaking. This is the usual sign that comes at the time of or just before the shock stops working and you lose the firm platform. New shock with brain required.

2. If platform is all ok, you may have some dirt/grit inside that prevents it moving properly.

Good luck

My 2nd AFR shock did the same thing. #1 on Pete's list is correct. New shock required, at least in my situation. My dealer replaced it, no problem.

Yeah that what my first shock did too. I'm just pissed that I'll be getting my 3rd set of shocks in less than a year!
I know what you mean, but Specialized is replacing them no questions asked. I'm just grateful they are standing behind their product and keeping me on the trail. I really don't care if I have to replace the shock 10 times, as long as they keep putting a new one on when I take it to the shop......I'll be a happy camper. I know the frustration, but Spesh is a standup company and they'll continue to take care of us.

yep! I took the bike back for the 3rd time on Tuesday. I'm picking up the bike today with a new rear shock and a completely new front fork, not just the brain, but the entire fork.:D

Lets see how long they last this time. If it breaks again I will sell it and not go back to Spec.

I imagine that after many replacements It will be very expensive for Specialized and they will make the necessary improvements to stop the warrenty claims. They may already be doing this. By then you may be riding another brand and miss out on the more reliable shock. I am still amazed at how well the "brain" works and love its hands off operation.
