it does contain some pretty steep downhill in Joaquin Miller, but I've seen people do that on cross bikes before

 

Just pm'd you. Lots of killer mixed terrain stuff around here. IMHO it's the best kind of riding in the east bay hills as the pure mtb stuff is only fair. But there is a vast amount of open space to explore, so Best bet is to pick a few of the parks/open spaces and explore them, connections between them, etc. you can do 3-10 park rides depending on how huge you want to go...

 

Start in Mill Valley. Up Railroad Grade. Across to Bo Ridge FR. All the Way to Olema. Then back through Samuel P Taylor SP. A few more FR and dirt connectors after that on the way to MV.

 

Marin Headlands have some nice loops. Start in Tenn Valley and go north to Pantoll and back via Dias Ridge trail, Deer Park fire road, Panoramic, include the Muir Woods loop, or Middle Green Gulch.

Or Go south via MiWok over to the top of Hawk Hill and explore the Rodeo Beach area.
