what are the advantages / disadvantages to both, IDK if I can see the bashguards doing as good of a job holding the chain in place but I like the idea of protecting the chain ring

what are you trying to accomplish? keeping your chain on a single ring?
I've used an E13 SRS for years and it works amazing at keeping everything in check. I'm about to try running 2 BBG bash rings (1 on each side of my chainring) on my CX bike to hopefully keep the chain on. not sure how well it'll work but I'll find out soon as they get here.
how do you know what size clamp to order, i just measured my seat post where the clam would go and it was like 45mm they only go up to 34mm, i have a 2011 trek ex7
my seat post is a 31.6 does that mean i gota get the 31.8 clamp?
