This is my First post, thanks everybody for all The great info all of u guys Put out. But heres my question, i have a 2 month old 2013 Marin Rift Zone & it came with Avid5's, my rear brake kept loosing pressure. Avid/Sram warrantied my whole braking system (fr & Rr) with Sram Guide R's... While it is their best new stuff, The Guide R's are The lowest in The line. My question is do u guys think They will be Better than The avids??? Lots of reviews on top line Guides, but none on The R's. Any one have experience with Guide R's???

Same basic caliper, new master cylinders.
Actually it's a 4 piston caliper, so different and more powerful than the Elixir 5. It's the same caliper as the Elixir Trail 7 used.

The Guide series in a mid to top level range of brakes, with the Guide R's being most comparable to the old Elixir Trail 7's or a Shimano Zee. I have Guide R's on my fat bike and they are amazing. Strong stopping power, with good modulation and lever feel, and ninja quiet.

I have had the chance to try those on a friends bike. They def feel nice. They won't be stopping you much quicker than the others would have if they had been working since stopping is going to be primarily a disc diameter related thing but I would say that they are not really a step down.

Be happy with them or buy Shimanos and sell them while they still look new.
