Answer this upgrade question

I have a 2011 hardrock that came with SRAM X.4 8sp Midcage rear derailleur and after a nasty spill this weekend it is all $%^ed up. I need a new one. So I see a lot of you guys and gals use SRAM X9. Will this RD work with my stock SRAM X.3 7sp trigger shifters?

The x9 should work fine on a 7 sp. However, you probably bent the der. hanger and a new der won't fix it. Try aligning the hanger or have it aligned at a shop before you change the der.

The LBS said the hangar was straight but the RD was bent.

Don't know if you will notice a huge amount of difference. You usually notice more improvement when upgrading the shifters. I have an older x3 rear der you can have if you want it. It worked fine on a bike until the shifter crapped out and I scrapped the bike. PM me if you want it.
