adding sealant to a tubeless setup

Hey everyone,

Stupid question here, but what's the best way to "refresh" a wheel with sealant... is it possible to do this without removing the tire? I have presta valves on stans no tube rims, and a bottle of orange seal.

Thanks.

Deflate tire. Remove valve core. Pour in sealant. Reinstall valve core. Inflate tire.

The Stans 2oz bottle has a tip the perfect size for pouring in through their valve stem whe the core is removed. Takes about 2-3 minutes per wheel.
I suggest that you do not use the Orange Sealant unless you want to remove the dry sealant from the tire later on. Its a pain. It works good though.

You don't have too. It will add some small weight after it drys out. If you put the tire on another rim, you will most likely want to remove the dry sealant around the beat seat otherwise it may not seal.

Orange seal does a great job of sealing leaks, but it leaves one heck of a layer on the inside of the tire and bead. Good if you want the seat to last, bad if you plan on swapping tires like crazy. Orange seal doesn't make burgers like stans does though, so I'd rather use orange seal.

As mentioned, remove valve core, add sealant, air back up. When you let out the air, do your best not to unseat the bead though. Once you loose the bead, it can be a pain getting it back on. One of the reasons I like WTB rims.

Stan's injector remove core install new fluid done.
I use to partially remove tire enough to pour in.
But the injector is a lot easier and faster.
And for $11 it's well worth it.

I'm agreeing the easiest method is by injection of sealant into the valve stem without breaking the bead. I do this occasionally.

However, I like to removed one side of the tire to not only visually check the existing sealant level, but remove any boogers. This lets me know how much sealant to add without arbitrarily adding too much when not necessary.

Orange seal I just top off through the valve with the hose supplied. If you don't have a hose just pick up a piece at Lowes or a hardware store. Clear rubber hose is cheap.

When I ran Stans I always had to break the bead and remove the animals inside. OS does leave a layer inside but its not a big deal, just leave it in there.
