BBT-69.2 works on external center-lock, not sure if it also works of your BB?

 

Typically the "standard" BB tool is also the lock ring tool - that is NOT a Sram BB DUB tool however! I did just find this and ended up ordering one for me, since it looks to do everything! https://www.amazon.com/Bicycle-Multifunctional-Wrench-Bottom-Bracket/dp/B086MXL586

 

For the center lock rotors you need Park Tool bbt 69.3, now replaced by 69.4. If your XT bottom bracket is the Deore XT MT800, it should fit that as well. To be sure measure the outside diameter of your BB. If it’s 44-45mm it will fit.

 

This should be the right tool.

thanks for the replies , unfortunately no tool seems to exist for both.... i purchased the park tool bbt-59.3 , it only works for the new xt bottom bracket , the rotor center lock ring is of a different size ....

 

If the bbt 59.3 fits your XT BB, then it‘s 41-42mm diameter. The bbt 69.4 is what fits the center lock ring. I use the bbt 69.2, which is the older version, on my center lock rotors. I wouldn’t think a tool exists that fits both….especially in a 3/8” ratchet version.

 

A simple pipe wrench or set of locking pliers would do nicely. I gave up on buying a bunch of special BB tools, I just use the locking pliers now. Works for all threaded BBs. I don't get any extra points from god or anything for not marring the BB cup edges, so I stopped caring.

I use the Shimano TL-FC36 and the TL-FC25 insert

There is also the TL-FC33 with the TL-FC25 for a ratchet although it’s 1/2”

What's wrong with 1/2" drive? 40Nm is well within your standard 1/2" drive torque wrench range.
